Up
next on Pitch B was PSV Hangover versus Galacticos.
This promised to be a mouth-watering game between
the team with the best group record today and
a team with a great eurofootballfives.com pedigree.
PSV Hangover had been simply awesome this morning.
They were the number 1 ranked team of all 24
at the end of the group phase. They were the
only team to maintain a 100% win record and
were the tournament's joint top scorers. They
had defeated the 2017 Lisbon Tournament and
2017 Amsterdam Fives winners already today so
it looked to us as if PSV Hangover were the
tournament favourites.
Their
opponents Galacticos had now qualified for the
Cup on all 5 of their eurofootballfives.com
appearances. Their record read:
2009
Barca Fives: Cup Semi-Final
2010
Valencia Fives: Cup Final, Runners-Up
2013
Algarve Open: Cup Quarter-Final (out on penalties)
2017
Barcelona Fives: Cup Quarter-Final (out on penalties)
2018
Lisbon Tournament: ????
Galacticos
were actually on a run of 17 games unbeaten
(in normal time, excluding penalties) in our
tournaments dating back to the group phase of
the 2013 Algarve Open when Ecclesfield Eagles
beat them 2-0. It was a sensational record.
At
the end of the first half that record looked
like being intact. Hamza Patel's 7 th goal of
the day gave Galacticos a 1-0 lead. After the
break Zeeshan Ali scored his second of the day
and PSV Hangover were under real pressure. 2-0
became 3-0 as Adam Patel rounded off a superb
3-0 win. If PSV Hangover were favourites before
this game then Galacticos certainly were going
into the Semi-Finals.
It
was a tough exit for PSV Hangover who had been
absolutely amazing for 5 games but 1 bad result
and they were out. I think it is clear for anyone
to see who watched their games that they are
certainly good enough to win a eurofootballfives.com
tournament. It was not to be in Lisbon this
year, hopefully they will earn that success
in the future.
