At the end of Round 2 we had three teams locked at the top on 3 points. Freshers FC and FC Foreigntina were two of those teams and they would meet head to head at the start of Round 3. Not only were the teams all locked together on points, they were all locked together on goal difference at +1.

For whoever could win this game there was the opportunity to open up a three point lead at the top of the table. FC Foreigntina made the early move in this game as they opened up a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Yaniv Rosenberg and Joao Puga. Oliver Rossiter was joint top scorer for Freshers FC at the 2015 Barcelona Fives with 5 goals. He had already scored in each of the first two games here and was about to make that 3 goals in 3 games when he reduced the Polish team's lead to 2-1.

FC Foreigntina restored the two goal advantage when Yaniv Rosenberg scored his second of the match and fourth of the tournament to make it 3-1. It proved to be the winning goal despite Oliver Rossiter also scoring his fourth of the tournament to make it 3-2.

When the referee blew for full-time it was FC Foreigntina who were victorious and they were top of Group D.

 
 
 

FC Dad versus Alea Iacta Est was next up on Pitch D or should we say Boisko D. FC Dad had so far suffered two narrow defeats – both by the odd goal. Could this be the game to turn their fortunes around and kickstart their campaign?

Alea Iacta Est had opened the scoring in both Round 1 and Round 2. They were to repeat the feat as captain Krzystof Kurzeja made it 1-0. In their two previous games they had gone 2-0 before being pegged back to 2-2. Despite this they had still picked up 4 points out of 6.

In this game Alea Iacta Est were unable to add to their opening goal but they were more assured at the back and went on to complete their first clean sheet of the campaign. Pawel Szymanski's shut out ensured all three points would go to the Polish team and they were top of the table.

It was a third successive 1-goal defeat for FC Dad. Close but no cigar.

 
 
 

The next action on the pitch in Group D was Spider Mans & Eagle versus Hotpockets.

Spider Mans & Eagle were currently ahead in the league table and sat 2 points ahead of their opponents. At the 2017 Barcelona Fives Spider Mans & Eagle played Deportivo Dooradoyle (the sister squad of Hotpockets). 3 of that Deportivo Dooradoyle squad were appearing for Hotpockets here in Gdansk. In Barcelona, Spider Mans won 3-0 with goals from Warren Whitmore and Nick McIntosh (x2). Both those players were missing from the Spider Mans squad today but they still had plenty of goals in their line-up.

Hotpockets possessed a lot of firepower of their own in the form of Pa O'Brien. He opened the scoring in this fixture. Spider Mans & Eagle recovered from 2-0 down to make it 2-2 in Round 2. They were on the comeback trail again here as they equalized through Ali Stewart.

In Round 2, having got back on level terms, Spider Mans then conceded to lose the match. Déjà vu was to befall them as Pa O'Brien scored his second of the match to make it 2-1 to Hotpockets.

The Irish team had claimed their first 3 points of the day and climbed above their opponents in the league table moving up to fourth spot.
