Group C was really hotting up as we entered Round 4. Match 10 of the group was a massive game. It was the battle at the summit at the top of the table. It was the two big hitters in the table as Northern Town FC played Bulota PK.

Both teams boasted a 100% record with 3 wins out of 3. These two teams currently enjoyed a 6 point cushion over the chasing pack so a draw here would secure Cup qualification. There was no question of the teams settling for a point each as both went for victory.

Bulota PK currently lead the way in Group C courtesy of their superior goal difference. They had scored an incredible 19 goals without reply so far. Northern Town's record was impressive but sedate in comparison with 12 goals scored and 3 conceded,

It was the Polish team who went ahead as Mateusz Janowski made it 1-0 to Bulota PK. Goalkeeper Pawel Dobieglewski had kept 3 clean sheets in a row but he wouldn't keep a fourth. Campbell McAuley levelled it up for Northern Town. Bulota PK were not to be denied though as Dominik Mierzwa put the Polish side 2-1 up. Northern Town FC were proving a difficult team to shake off as Chris Slevin pulled them level again at 2-2.

Bulota PK took the lead for the third time in the game through Andrzej Mechlinski and this time it was decisive. The match finished 3-2 and Bulota PK marched on with 4 wins from 4 games. Northern Town FC, despite defeat, showed they were a team to be reckoned with.

So, how would we follow that top of the table clash? With I Love United & Drinking Shandies versus Gdanskchester FC….that's how.

I Love United & Drinking Shandies could still reach the Cup via second position if results went their way but it was more realistic to suggest they were chasing third and a place in the Plate. They were one of three teams level on three points. A match against the bottom placed team represented a great opportunity to move ahead of their closest rivals. After two 1-goal defeats they had just collected their first win – could they kick on?

Gdanskchester had struggled this morning with 3 successive defeats and, sadly for them, they were heading towards a fourth. Aaron Sullivan scored his fourth goal of the fay to put I Love United & Drinking Shandies 1-0 up. 1-0 became 2-0 through Alex Burns first goal of the day. Finally, 2-0 became 3-0 when Tom Russell bagged his fifth of the competition.

I Love United & Drinking Shandies were in 3rd place. Gdanskchester remained in 6th position.

Similarly to I Love United & Drinking Shandies, Red Cow Belgrade and Audley Witney could still reach the Cup via second position if results went their way but it was more realistic to suggest they were chasing third/fourth and a place in the Plate. In that sense it was a three horse race for two qualifying positions with the team finishing in fifth position having to settle for the Trophy.

Both teams started on 3 points but Red Cow Belgrade would probably start as favourites due to a superior goal difference of 8-10. In contrast, Audley Witney were 2-12. Following their opening win, Audley Witney had lost their next two games to nil.

Things continued in a similar vein for the Oxon based team as they found themselves slipping behind again. Joe Howitt was the man to put Red Cow Belgrade 1-0 up. Thomas Goyski, Joe Howitt and Jamie Howitt extended that lead to 4-0 and the points were destined to go to the Derbyshire based team.

Eddie Stevens did manage to pull a goal back for Audley Witney but they were four goals behind again as Dan McNulty made it 5-1. Ian Goodwin had the final say as Audley Witney reduced the deficit to 5-2.
