Monaco Tiny Gdanskers (Eng)

At the start of Round 2 we had Monaco Tiny Gdanskers looking to bounce back from opening game defeat. Their opponents would be Deportivo Dooradoyle who were looking to build on an excellent 3-0 opening victory.

Deportivo Dooradoyle looked to be continuing that early form as Kevin Shine put his team 1-0 up for his third goal of the day. Another man in good goal-scoring form was Luke Albrighton for Monaco Tiny Gdanskers who equalized with his third of the tournament.

The English team completed the turnaround as they went 2-1 up thanks to a Tim Werger strike. Luke Albrighton made it a brace in each game as he extended the lead to 3-1. Monaco Tiny Gdanskers were not finished yet though as Tim Werger completed the scoring to make it 4-1.

It was quite a turnaround for both teams after their Round 1 fixtures. The two teams found themselves occupying the mid-table places each on 3 points.

In the next game we had Bialoazzuri FC who performed well against tough opposition in the shape of The A Team. FC Shark had started slowly but recovered from 2-0 down to win their opening game 3-2.

FC Shark were making their 4th eurfootballfives.com appearance. It all began at the 2015 Barcelona Fives. They began with a 3-3 draw against Spain's FC Prospe before defeats to Freshers FC (4-0), the eventual champions Club Esportiu Llefia (3-2) and finished with a 1-1 draw against FC Atwood. They qualified for the Trophy and defeated Carazur 3-2 in the Quarter-Finals. They exited at the Semi-Final stage following a 3-0 defeat to Equipo De Cristhian.

Their second appearance was at the 2016 Riga Tournament. They drew a tough group that produced the Cup, Plate and Trophy champions but they were holding their own after 3 games with 2 draws and 1 defeat. The group campaign finished with 2 defeats (to the eventual Cup winners and a Cup Semi-Finalist) and so the Trophy awaited them in the knock-out phase. Their sister club FC Maroon accounted for them at this stage with a 4-1 win.

Then came that victorious 2017 Mallorca Fives campaign that we mentioned in the write up of Round 1. FC Shark were looking to make it 2 wins out of 2 but they were unable to penetrate the Bialoazzuri FC defence.

The Polish team were equally finding it tough to break down the backline of FC Shark. It meant we ended up with a rare 0-0 draw on the day. Honours even.

We were due to have 7 teams in Group A but we were rocked by the no-show of KP Browar. We therefore had to expunge their fixtures from the schedule. It meant that the fixtures would be a little unbalanced in terms of the order of play. It meant that the final game of Round 2 was Audley London versus Monaco Tiny Gdanskers (playing for the second time in this round).

Monaco Tiny Gdanskers had just produced a superb 4-1 win at the start of this round and could go top of Group A with another win. So far their main marksman had been Luke Albrighton and he was in amongst the goals again as he established a 1-0 lead for his team.

Audley London FC were hoping to put a 3-0 defeat behind from the opening set of fixtures. They scored their first goal of the day and were back on level terms here thanks to a Harry Musson strike.

Audley London would not remain level for long though as Tim Werger put his team ahead once again. Luke Albrighton made it 3-1 as he continued his 2-goals per game scoring streak. Another man that was scoring doubles was Tim Werger whose second goal of the game meant it was a brace in consecutive games for him. The goal also meant his team wrapped up a second successive 4-1 victory.
