Game #10 of Group B was the big one. It was the battle of the top 2 – Lilchicago versus FC Maroon. It was the battle of two teams with identical 100% records. Played 3, won 3, scored 10, conceded 1.

We've mentioned FC Maroon's impressive group phase record in our tournaments which now stood at 10 games unbeaten. Lilchicago also had a superb record. It read:

2017 Mallorca Tournament: Won 4, Drawn 1. Goal difference 11-3 (1st place)

2017 Vilnius Tournament: Won 2, Drawn 1, Lost 1. Goal difference 7-3 (2nd place)

2018 Riga Tournament: Won 4 out of 4. Goal difference 26-4 (1st place)

Including today's results, overall they had won 13, drawn 2 and lost just 1 group phase game. They had scored 54 goals for the loss of just 11. This would undoubtedly be the biggest test of FC Maroon's unbeaten record. Lilchicago's own unbeaten record in the group phase stood at 9 matches.

It was Lilchicago who struck the opening blow as Ernestas Bartekvicius scored his second of the tournament. Matt Alawi levelled things up at 1-1 for FC Maroon and it was game on. Lilchicago were forced to dig deep and called upon Lukas Melaika to restore the lead as they made it 2-1. The killer blow was dealt by Sarunas Krasauskas as he made it 3-1. It was a great win for Lilchicago.

FC Maroon's very fine run was ended but they were still very well placed in Group B with one game to go for them.

RAF Fylingdales FC could potentially secure their highest place finish in a eurofootballfives.com group phase. They currently sat in third position with a chance of second. They first played in our tournaments at the 2013 Barcelona Fives and finished fifth in Group E which featured the Plate winners The Depo All Stars, 2 x Plate Runners-up and 1 time Trophy Runners-up Drunk Perfect, Plate Runners-Up JF and the Pullbacks plus Elcombe Old Boys who have a record of just 2 defeats in 19 games in Barcelona. RAF Fylingdales went out in the Trophy Play-off 3-0 to ADP Dream Team (Spa).

They returned to eurofootballfives.com action at the 2016 Riga Tournament. They got off to a good start with 4 points from the first 6 available having drawn 1-1 with Saga Louts and defeating It's Back, 2-0. A narrow 3-2 defeat followed to FC Dad before another 1-1 draw with Cruz Del Sur B. Leilupe won the group with a 100% record and RAF Fylingdales just went down, 3-2, in their final group game. They finished 4th and progressed to the Plate. They won 6-3 against Latvian side Zemniecki in the Quarter-Finals before going down to Plate winners DHFC, 4-1.

2017 saw them return to Barcelona Fives. They finished fourth in their 8-team group with 4 wins and 3 defeats. It saw them qualify for the Plate competition where they went out to the eventual Plate winners, LT United of Lithuania, at the Quarter-Final stage.

RAF Fylingdales were up against Bede FC. In contrast to recent high-scoring games this was a much tighter contest. In the end, just the one goal was required to settle it. That goal was scored by Adam Brennan for RAF Fylingdales.

Lilchicago were in action again for their fifth and final fixture – they needed just a draw to secure the Group B title and a win to complete a 100% record. They had won their group on 2 of their 3 previous appearances. Could they grab a hat-trick of group wins?

The Crazy Gang made their eurofootballfives.com debut in 2010 when we held a charity tournament in Manchester on behalf of The Prostate Cancer Charity. They finished 5th in their 6-team group and narrowly missed out on the knock-out phase. They then made their European debut at the 2014 Bratislava Fives and drew a highly competitive group finishing in 6th position. A Trophy Quarter-Final followed where they went out to the eventual Trophy Winners, Ziar Crew.

They followed this up by competing in Lisbon in 2015. They finished 6 th in Group B to qualify for the Trophy competition and went out in the Quarter-Finals to Frank Hirth who went on to complete a Plate & Trophy double in Lisbon. It was a similar story at the 2016 Riga Tournament where they also finished 6th in Group B and made the Trophy again. They lost in the Trophy Quarter-Final to Aliance – who went on to win the Trophy. The third year in a row that The Crazy Gang had lost to the Trophy winners.

2017 was their fourth overseas tour as they made the trip to Vilnius. They finished 5th in their group but were competitive throughout such as just a 1-0 narrow defeat to the group winners. They played in the Wooden Spoon play-off against Wealdstone Raiders. After a 2-2 draw The Crazy Gang missed out 4-3 on penalties.

Lilchicago started this game with just 2 outfield players which helped The Crazy Gang establish a 2-0 lead with Hugh Roach scoring twice. Lilchicago returned to full capacity and turned the game around. Lukas Melaika and Liudas Masiliunas got them back to 2-2. Sarunas Krasauskas put them 3-2 up and then they eased away from their opponents thanks to Ernestas Bartkevicius, Lukas Melaika and Liudas Masiliunas.
