We began Group C with Bulota PK versus Red Cow Belgrade.

Today's tournament would begin with four groups with 6 teams in each group. After which, depending on position, they will progress to the Cup, Plate or Trophy competition.

The teams finishing 1st and 2nd in each group would progress to the Cup competition. The teams finishing 3rd and 4th in each group would progress to the Plate competition. The teams finishing 5th and 6th in each group would progress to the Trophy competition. Each competition would be played on a Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final basis.

It looked like Bulota PK would be aiming for the top tier Cup competition as they got off to a sensational start. Mateusz Janowski scored twice to set them on their way before Lukasz Abryszynski scored two of his own to complete a 4-0 win.

 
 
 

Match 2 in Group C saw I Love United & Drinking Shandies versus Audley Witney.

 

Audley Witney were born from the team formerly known as Drunken DisAudley. They began their eurofootballfives.com careers at the 2015 Algarve Open and made an instant impact with a 1-0 win over 2011 Valencia Fives and 2012 Krakow Trophy winners – Skidmarks. They went on to finish 3rd in their 6-team group and qualify for the Cup. They went out to the previous season's finalists, Water Boy (Por), 4-0 in the Quarter-Finals.

They returned to action at the 2016 Riga Tournament. They played well in the group phase to finish with 4 wins out of 5 as they finished in second position. They qualified for the Cup Quarter-Finals where they met Leilupe. Drunken DisAudley surprisingly crashed out, 7-1.

Today they appeared as Audley Witney FC and Audley London FC. The Audley Witney team got off to a flyer as they opened up a 2-0 lead. Eddie Stevens was the man to score their first of the day. Ian Goodwin then doubled that advantage.

I Love United & Drinking Shandies pulled a goal back to 2-1 but couldn't quite find an equalizer. Final score, 2-1.

 
 
 

The last two teams to get underway were Northern Town (Eng) versus Gdanskchester (Pol). Both of these teams were on their eurofootballfives.com debut and therefore had a blank canvas upon which to paint their footballing artistry. Let the games commence….

It was Northern Town who made the initial breakthrough. Chris Slevin was the man with the honour of scoring their first goal in our tournaments. 1-0 became 2-0 when Campbell McAuley struck his first of the tournament.

Chris Slevin was on target for a second time in the match as he sealed a superb 3-0 win. It was a great start for Northern Town FC. For Gdanskchester there was still plenty of time to kickstart their campaign in the games to come.
