Round 4 of Group A began in what was a very hotly contested group. Realistically, any of the top 5 could still claim the two places up for grabs in the Cup competition. There was just 2 points separating first to fifth position. The first two teams to stake their claim would be Bialoazzuri FC versus Monaco Tiny Gdanskers – who were those two teams in fifth and first.

Bialoazzuri FC came into the game fresh from their first victory of the day over Audley London. Monaco Tiny Gdanskers came into the game on the back of two 4-1 victories. With the two teams on form the opening goal came from a surprising source. Nyle Jones, the Monaco Tiny Gdanskers goalkeeper, went from shot stopper to shot scorer as he scored from his own penalty area to give his team a 1-0 lead. Remarkably it was the second time a goalkeeper had scored today!

It looked like Monaco Tiny Gdanskers could be on course for their third win of the day but they were pegged back. Marco Yanime scored his third goal in two games for Bialoazzuri FC to make it 1-1.

Bialoazzuri FC could really do with a winner as this was their fifth and final game. It was therefore their last chance to put points on the board and they would dearly love 3 points instead of 1. As it turned out, neither team could find a winner and the teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

The A Team were up next and brought a 100% record to the game. With games in hand they were in a very strong position in Group A. They could go top of the table with a victory here. In their way stood Deportivo Dooradoyle.

Deportivo Dooradoyle were level on points with the A Team but had played one game more. They too could go top of the table with a win in this match. Their form had been up and down so far – 3-0 win, 4-1 loss, 2-0 win. Could they bring their top form into this game? They might need it against a strong French side.

Randy Tchutio of The A Team was Top Goalscorer at the 2013 Krakow Trophy, 2014 Budapest Fives and 2015 Bratislava Fives. He had scored in each of his first two games here and he kept that run going. Tchutio opened the scoring to make it 1-0 and then doubled the advantage to make it 2-0.

There was a third consecutive clean sheet at the back for The A Team to help keep their 100% record going. Final score, 2-0.

Deportivo Dooradoyle would not have to wait long to try and put defeat behind them. They would feature in game 12 of Group A versus FC Shark. Both these teams featured at our 2015 Barcelona Fives event but didn't meet on that occasion.

Deportivo Dooradoyle had so far gone win-loss-win-loss so would love to see that sequence continue with another win. This was to be their final group game and their last chance to stake a claim for Cup or Plate qualification.

FC Shark were three points behind their opponents with a game in hand and a place in the Cup was still very much up for grabs especially if they could finish with two wins out of two. That didn't look likely after the early exchanges in this game though.

Kevin Shine and Tom Kelleher were amongst the goals for the Irish team as they established a 2-0 lead. FC Shark had come from 2 down earlier in the day and they were to display their powers of discovery again as they recovered to 2-2. Joe Cridland was the man with both goals for FC Shark.

The match finished 2-2 which, whilst clearly better than a defeat, didn't really suit either team in the overall context of Group A if they had Cup aspirations.
