Les 5 Salopards (Fra) have previously played at the 2013 Budapest Fives. They made a pretty good debut and opened up with a 1-0 win over Budapest Celtic Tigers. They then slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Shahs of Sunset but soon recovered with a 4-0 win over BBFC1. A 2-2 draw against Wokingham FC and a 2-0 win against The Puskas Dolls meant they finished second in Group A. They qualified for the Cup and continued their fine form with a 3-1 win over Budapest Celtic Pumas. Their run came to an end though when they ran into Rigford Seahawks Omega and lost 2-0 in the Semi-Finals.

They looked on course for another Cup qualification as they had started today with two wins on the bounce (2-1 v The Warriors and 1-0 v Los Amblos). Their opponents in Round 3 were Santa Maria who had 1 point from a possible 6 so far (1-3 v AFC Shooters 2 and 0-0 v The Warriors).

Santa Maria were to provide a surprise result based on the context of the group so far. Joao Pereira was the man to put his team 1-0 up in the opening period. Although time was on their side Les 5 Salopards were unable to recover. Having shipped 3 goals in their first game, Santa Maria and goalkeeper Nuno Positeiro would go on to keep a second successive clean sheet.

This was a huge result for Santa Maria who moved up to third in the table (temporarily at least). Les 5 Salopards could be removed as league leaders if AFC Shooters B won their next game.

Next up on Pitch B was a game between Los Amblos and AFC Shooters 2.

So far today Los Amblos had lost one and drawn one but they had only conceded the one goal so AFC Shooters 2 would need to be sharp up front as they looked to go top of Group A.

AFC Shooters 2 needed a win for top spot or a draw to remain in second. They had been amongst the goals today and even Julian Wilton could not prevent them continuing that record. There was a goal in each half for Aaron Wheeler and JJ Monserat as the team in black and gold stripes looked to be heading for the summit of the Group A table.

Los Amblos broke their tournament duck when Ade Chester's goal threatened to put a spanner in the works. AFC Shooters had drawn from a winning position in Round 2 but they would hang on to all 3 points here.

FC Dad versus The Warriors was the final game in Round 3. If we were filling in the pools coupon then we might be putting down an ‘x' for this fixture with these two teams being involved in three draws in their combined four games so far today.

When we reached the half-way stage that was looking like a pretty good call as we remained at 0-0. Whilst clearly better than a defeat, too many draws can seriously impede your progress up the table and FC Dad faced the prospect of remaining unbeaten but being down in fourth place should this game end goal-less. With Santa Maria's win over Les 5 Salopards it meant a draw would not really be enough for either team as they chased Cup/Plate qualification. The teams needed to find a winner.

To coin a phrase, cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Calum Jones. In a tight match his strike proved to be the difference between the two teams combined with a clean sheet for Graham Dodds. The 1-0 win put FC Dad well placed in the chasing pack as they approached the final bend to kick on the Group A finish line.
