Group B began with Blue Collar Revolution versus Fail Madrid.

Blue Collar Revolution (Fra) made their debut in our events at the 2017 Mallorca Fives and made quite an impact in the group stages. They had a 100% win record with 15 points from their 5 games. They scored 16 goals along the way with just 3 conceded. They saw off FC Shark (4-0), Manneliefde (3-0), Fleet Street Elite A (2-1), Forn De N'Aina (4-0) and Valecuatro (3-2). Their form continued in the knock-out phase with a 4-0 win over Brioche FS. In the Semi-Finals they met Forn De N'Aina again and drew 2-2. The game would be decided on penalties and sadly for Blue Collar Revolution it was the Argentine team who emerged victorious, 2-0.

This therefore represented a tough start (on paper) to the competition for Fail Madrid and so it proved. It was the French team who opened the scoring thanks to a strike from captain Maxime Hatton. Hicham Manaa then took over goal scoring duties when he doubled the lead to 2-0 and made the game safe at 3-0. He put the icing on the cake when he completed his personal hat-trick and completed the scoring for a 4-0 win.

There was still plenty of time for Fail Madrid to get into this tournament and all games would surely not be this tough!

Match 2 saw The Basemen (Eng) versus Galacticos (Eng). Both teams were appearing for the second time at the Lisbon Tournament. By coincidence, both teams competed at the 2018 edition of this event. They didn't meet face-to-face 4 years ago but both teams qualified for the Cup competition with The Basemen going out at the QF stage whilst Galacticos eventually finished runners-up.

Galacticos would naturally hope to go one step further than they did last time out but they fell behind early in this one. Jack Utting the man with the goal for The Basemen. Hamza Hafesji put Galacticos back on level terms and then turned the game around to make it 2-1 to his side. Husaifa Hafesji gave Galacticos a cushion when he made it 3-1 before Zaiahrr opened his personal account to seal the win at 4-1.

The last two teams to take to the field were OS Sadinos (Por) and FC Maroon (Eng).

FC Maroon entered the tournament on the back of Barcelona success. At the 2021 Barcelona Fives, they were in a very tight group where all games bar one was a draw or settled by the odd goal. They opened up with a 1-1 draw v FC Tpaktop (USSR) before a 2-1 defeat to reigning Amsterdam Fives champions, Epsilon Rovers. A 0-0 draw v Maresmex followed before a final game win against The Basemen (3-2) secured Plate qualification. The Plate Semi-Finals saw them beat their touring club compatriots FC Dad 2-0 to set-up a final against Old Boys Blue Magic Dublin. A 1-1 draw meant they were sweating on another penalty shootout – they avoided a 4 th successive exit on pens as they won 2-1 in the shootout to collect the winners' trophy and medals.

They were playing against OS Sadinos who were on debut in our tournaments so we did not know quite what to expect from them. The two teams seemed fairly evenly matched and in the end there was just one goal to split the teams. The man of the moment was Diogo Madureira whose strike earned a 1-0 win for the home nation.
