Indoor Gent would kick us off next against AFC Blue Boys. The Belgian team were top of Group A and they had been scoring goals for fun – 11 in total with just 1 goal conceded.

They were showing the form that took them so close to glory at their most recent appearance at the 2019 Amsterdam Sixes. Despite a 4-1 defeat in their opening fixture to Kavlow (Eng) they stormed back with 4 successive victories. 5-0 v FC Gijon, 5-1 v Team Tapas, 5-3 v Shamrock FC and 5-1 v East Anglia Dons. They qualified for the Cup Semi-Finals in 2 nd place in the group. They were unable to score 5 so would have to settle for 4-2 win against BabyBlaauwe Beesten. In the Cup Final they met Kavlow again who proved to be their nemesis as the English team won 5-2 on this occasion.

If Indoor Gent could secure a third win here they would be just a point from assured Cup qualification. Up against them, AFC Blue Boys had 2 defeats so far but they were both narrow defeats (0-1, 1-2) so they were competitive but this would be arguably their toughest group game yet. The game was a pretty close contest with the score remaining at 0-0 for more than half the game. However, it was AFC Blue Boys who went ahead with a goal from Mateusz Sieracki.

Indoor Gent were looking at defeat for the first time today but they were able to get themselves back into it. Mo Zemouri scored his third of the tournament and certainly his most important as he levelled the game up at 1-1.

There was to be no addition to the score and so the teams had to settle for 1 point each. It was a good game.

In the next game we had Los Swallacticos who were surprisingly at the foot of the table although they had played the top two. They were due to face Southgate FMU who had 1 defeat, 1 win to their name.

Southgate FMU would no doubt come into this game on a high having tasted victory in their last game. Not only victory but the added sparkle of coming from behind. They continued that momentum with two goals in the early stages of this fixture. Jon Cerveno scored the winner against AFC Blue Boys and he bagged a brace here. At 2-0, Southgate FMU were well on their way to a second win on the bounce.

However, there was still time in the game and Los Swallacticos hit back. Conor Taylor was the man to get his name on the score sheet as he reduced the deficit to 2-1. Southgate FMU had enough in the tank to prevent Los Swallacticos getting back level and the game finished at 2-1.

Up next was RAF1 playing their third game against Indoor Gent playing their final game. As things stood, RAF1 were just a point behind their opponents but obviously with a game in hand.

Indoor Gent knew that a win here would see them crowned Group A champions with 10 points. A draw would see them on 8 points and guaranteed a place in the Cup (as RAF1 were due to meet Southgate FMU in the final group game). Defeat could see them miss out if Southgate FMU defeated RAF1 in that final group encounter.

RAF1 essentially had two bites at the cherry. If they lost this they could still qualify for the Cup with a win in the final game. A draw here would mean they only needed a point in that final game. Win here though and Cup qualification was guaranteed. A win looked on the cards when Honorato Ricardo gave the Portuguese a 1-0 lead but there was still plenty of time left.

The second goal in this game proved crucial and it came after the half-way point when Tiago Nogueira scored his third of the tournament to extend the RAF1 lead to 2-0. There was no way back for Indoor Gent as they lost 2-0. The Belgian team would now have to hope Southgate FMU did not beat RAF1 in their final game. If that was the case they would still make the Cup.

80% of Group B games were now completed with just 2 to go. We turned our attention to the teams in fourth and fifth position which was AFC Blue Boys (Pol) versus Los Swallacticos (NI). For both these teams the Cup was out of reach but the battle was for Plate/Trophy qualification. At present AFC Blue Boys were qualifying for the Plate and only a win for Los Swallacticos would deny them.

Los Swallacticos had 2 Cup and 1 Plate qualification from their previous three tournaments and, no doubt, would prefer to add another Plate qualification to that list given their current predicament. Their task got tougher when AFC Blue Boys took an early lead through Lukasz Kowaluk.

There was hope for Los Swallacticos when Fergus Cunningham equalised but they soon found themselves behind again. Lukasz Kowaluk restored the lead for AFC Blue Boys at 2-1. The Polish team then had some daylight between them and their opponents when Artur Kozlowski made it 3-1. From this, there was no way back for Los Swallacticos.

Final score 3-1. AFC Blue Boys had sealed qualification to the Plate.

We went into Game 10 of Group B with Southgate FMU due to host RAF1. Let's have a look at what was at stake for the two teams going into this encounter:

Southgate FMU: They could finish no worse than third place with a defeat that would see them into a Plate. A draw would see them move level with Indoor Gent into joint second but would miss out on the Cup due to goal difference. A win would see them join RAF1 on 9 points. Most likely this would see them second on goal difference unless they won by a cricket score.

RAF1: They had the luxury of knowing they had already qualified for the Cup. They would win Group A with a win or draw. Realistically, they would win with a defeat via goal difference unless they got battered.

There was no pressure on RAF1 on this game and they settled into their stride. They moved ahead in the early stages of the game with Tiago Nogueira's fourth goal of the tournament. Southgate FMU's Cup hopes were fading as they now needed to score at least twice. That requirement increased when Joao Simoes doubled the RAF1 lead towards the end of the game. Final score, 0-2.

The result dotted the I's and crossed the T's on the action in Group A as RAF1 were crowned champions with a 100% record. Southgate FMU finished a very respectable third place and would progress to the Plate.
