We were down to the final four teams in our Trophy competition and first up was Los Swallacticos versus Skidmarks. It was a high quality encounter that would not have looked out of place in the Cup competition.

Los Swallacticos were our 2013 Barcelona Fives winners and 2014 Barcelona Fives runners-up. Skidmarks were our winners at the 2011 Valencia Fives, 2012 Krakow Trophy & 2019 Budapest Fives. They also had runner-up finishes at the 2013 Mallorca Fives, 2014 Bratislava Fives & 2018 Amsterdam Fives. Between them they had racked up an incredible 8 Cup Final appearances.

The two teams looked fairly evenly matched and the game panned out a lot like the two Quarter-Finals these teams had played. The first half of action was goal-less with goals arriving relatively late on. There was to be just one goal to decide this tie and it was Luke Hatfield of Skidmarks with the strike – his third in two games.

There was a second clean sheet for Paul Mulvey and his defence as Skidmarks marched through to the final.

The day was over for Los Swallacticos – by their own admission, an under-par performance over the course of the day missing a couple of key players. We are sure they will be back stronger next time out.

So, who would meet Skidmarks in the Final? Would it be FC Maroon or Moles Salah?

FC Maroon were bidding to reach a third eurofootballfives.com final. At the 2016 Riga Tournament they reached the Trophy Final with a 4-1 win over FC Shark and 4-2 win over One Calamski. In the final they drew 0-0 with Latvia's FK Aliance before losing on penalties 3-2. At the 2021 Barcelona Fives they beat FC Dad 2-0 in the Semis to meet Old Boys Blue Magic Dublin in the Plate Final. They drew 1-1 but won 2-1 in the shoot-out.

Moles Salah were on debut so this was their first taste of the knockout phase in our events. When the game kicked off, they made the perfect start. In the very first minute they opened the scoring through Jack Barr. It was a blow to FC Maroon who were dealt a double blow when Jack Barr was on target again to make it 2-0 to Moles Salah. With half the game to go there was still time for FC Maroon to get back into this. Tom Pope and his defence but couldn't quite keep a clean sheet. Rohan Hope scored in the final minute of the game to reduce the deficit to 2-1 but it ultimately proved too little too late as FC Maroon exited the competition.

We'd like to make a special mention to FC Maroon who were making a landmark 10th appearance in our tournaments. We'd like to thank them for their support over the years (especially recently) and we were privileged to award them their 10th tour trophy to mark the occasion. Thank you and see you again soon.

For Moles Salah, their adventure continued as they had a European final to prepare for.
