A look at the league table at the end of Round 2 showed a clear top 3 and bottom 3. Round 3 started with two of those teams at the foot of the table trying to bridge the gap to those above as Skidmarks took on White Collar Revolution. Both teams were looking to gain their first win of the day as they held drawn 1, lost 1 records.

The last of Skidmarks three eurofootballfives.com titles came at their most recent performance, the 2019 Budapest Fives – sounds a long time ago but this was our last full season before 2022 due to the pandemic. In Budapest they recovered from a relatively slow start (1-1 with Paris Expats FC, 2-3 v Deportivo Dooradoyle) to win 3 games on the bounce (2-0, 1-0, 7-0) before losing to previous Budapest champions Meglepetes in the final group game. It did not disturb their momentum as they continued their form in the Cup Quarter-Finals. A 1-1 draw against Meglepetes before winning on penalties and then a 4-0 win over Budasesh in the Semis. They were now fully in the groove and defeated Paris Expats FC 4-0 in the Cup Final.

They would need a similar revival here in Lisbon if they wished to make it 4 titles. Things did not start well though as White Collar Revolution took the lead. Othman Stitou the man with the goal.

White Collar Revolution could make it three teams tied on 4 points in second if they could hold on for the win but they were not able to do so. Richard Keeley scored an equalizer for Skidmarks that meant it was 2 wins on the trot for them.

It was a point each but, whilst clearly better than a defeat, it was not the result these two teams desired.

Montanelas FC versus Sirkumo FC was next up on Pitch 4. These were the two teams in joint second place and you might think the result of this game could go a long way to determining which of these teams might make the Cup and which might make the Plate.

A win here for either team would send them to the summit of Group D (temporarily at least as Pangere Brasileiros would have a game in hand). It was Sirkumo FC who made the early move with Mobin Budi keeping up his record of scoring in every game. Montanelas FC would not be phased by going behind as they had recovered from a deficit last time out. They showed their powers of recovery again when David Alves levelled things up at 1-1.

Montanelas FC still had time to bag a winner. Leandro Teixeira scored a hat-trick in the opening game and he was back amongst the goals with a vital strike that earned his team all 3 points here. Final score, 2-1.

The next action on the pitch in Group D was Moles Salah versus Pangere FC Brasileiros.

Moles Salah were looking for their first points of the day and the last thing they needed was to face the 2017 winners & 2019 runners-up, Pangere FC. Add into the mix that Pangere had 2 wins out of 2 today and this represented an awfully tough fixture for Moles Salah.

Today's form book suggested an away win and the form book was spot on. A couple of early goals from William Junior set the Brazilians on their way. Victory would take Pangere Brasileiros back to the top of Group D and a 2 point lead. They were not messing about in this fixture as they were ruthless in attack. Jose Matheus Rocha dos Schoa scored for the third successive game to make it 3-0 before Simbair made it 4-0.

Pangere were not done yet – William Junior completed his hat-trick and William Milamezi Marques added one to his tournament tally. Pangere FC Brasileiros were emerging as contenders for the title and were firing on all cylinders.
