As we entered the final Round of games Cheesecake FC and Bubble Football were in the enviable position of already having secured Cup football. The only thing to be decided was which of these two teams would be crowned Group D champions and earn, in theory, an easier Cup Quarter-Final tie. They had the luxury of a free game in terms of the pressure being off but they both had 100% records to maintain.

The two teams had been imperious so far – both teams had been commanding in defence with goalkeepers David Smith (Cheesecake FC) and Gonzalo Correia (Bubble Football) yet to concede. This game may well come down to firepower and with Bubble Football outscoring Cheesecake 19 to 12 this morning it may well be Bubble Football that would be favourites.

It was a great game high on energy, technique and skill and there was not much between the teams and this was reflected in the score at half-time. The two teams went in level at 1-1. Ivo Simoes scored his fourth in as many games for Bubble Football. Kevin Raphael scored the goal for Cheesecake FC – he was the top goalscorer at the 2014 Mallorca Tournament with 11 goals and it was a surprise that this was his first of the day but what a game to get it in.

Bubble Football showed no signs of letting their standards slip as the group reached its climax. Ivo Simoes scored yet again for the Portuguese team and his goal would ultimately prove to be the decider. Bubble Football had won it 2-1 and they were fast emerging as the team to beat in this tournament.

€agles 3:36 met Saga Louts in the penultimate game of Group D. Everything was almost done and dusted in terms of qualification but there was one more thing to settle – the final Plate place.

€agles 3:36 already had their place in the Plate guaranteed and they only needed a draw to secure third position. There was more at stake for Saga Louts – a win and they would finish in third, a draw and they would finish in fourth and if they lost by 3 they would still be ok for third on goal difference. Lose by four or more and they would drop down to the Trophy and It's Back would take their place.

With the game underway it was a pretty even contest. There were no goals in evidence in the opening period and as we reached half-time at 0-0 it looked, barring anything remarkable in the second half, that both teams would be playing Plate football this afternoon. In the second half €agles 3:36 opened the door for It's Back as Julian Smith put his team ahead. Saga Louts swiftly shut that door with Dom Vicos restoring parity at 1-1.

That's how it finished – job well done by both. On to the knock-out phase…

That left us with It's Back versus Casa Amarela and to add It's Back's 3 walkover points to the league placings to complete the Group D standings.
