We were at the 2015 Lisbon Tournament Cup Semi-Final stage and from the 24 teams who signed we were down to the final 4 – already an achievement for those who were still in the hunt for glory. The first Cup Semi-Final would see Fidelidade versus Melee FC. Melee FC had never lost a Cup Semi-Final having secured a 100% record of two wins at this stage of a tournament. Fidelidade were on debut but their performance today suggested they go one stage further and put a dent in that Melee FC record.

It was Fidelidade who struck first in this fixture and there was a huge slice of bad fortune for Melee FC. Andri Michial's strike took a huge deflection to wrong foot Fabio Zucchelli which left the Melee FC goalkeeper helpless. It was 1-0 at half-time. Melee FC had shown great resilience in the previous round by coming back from two down to force a draw. They would need to show equal resilience here against a team that had conceded just one in six previous games today.

Melee FC threw everything at Fidelidade but they were unable to lock the door. They had shots, won corners but Fidelidade were resolute in defence and looked confident they could keep their opponents at bay and ensure safe passage to the final – which is exactly what happened. Final score, 1-0.

It was a tough exit for Melee FC who could not have been closer to making their third successive Cup Final. We hope they'll join us on tour again next year to have another crack at winning that coveted European trophy.

So, who would take their place in the Final from the second Semi-Final? The two teams set to do battle were Bubble Football against Indoorsoccer.

Bubble Football was enjoying a superb debut with 6 wins from their 6 games today. They had scored 25 goals and conceded just 3. It was a formidable record and a formidable task that Indoorsoccer had awaiting them. Indoorsoccer had a perfectly good record so far with 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat with 8 goals scored and 3 conceded but an extra 17 goals for Bubble Football on the day marked them out as hot favourites for this tie.

Indoorsoccer competed well and and gave Bubble Football a tough game but the match went the way many watching expected. There was a goal in each half for Bubble Football who completed a solid 2-0 victory.

Ricardo Costa scored the opening goal of the game – a timely strike for his first of the day to set Bubble Football on the winning path. Ivo Simoes was a familiar scorer today for the men in white and he notched his seventh of the tournament – his goal put him in the lead for the top goalscorer prize and ensured a Cup Final for Bubble Football. We thank Inoorsoccer for participating in the tournament and congratulations on a very good debut. We hope you will join us again when we return on the 25 th June 2016!
