The
second final of the day would see Frank Hirth
B versus Shahs of Sunset. With seven games of
football already under their belt the two teams
would need to summon one last burst of energy
to ensure they would be picking up winners and
not runners-up medals in the presentation.
Both
teams were playing in their first eurofootballfives.com
final having reached semi-finals before. The two
teams were each looking in fine form – Shahs of
Sunset were still unbeaten. Frank Hirth B just
had the one defeat to their name but crucially
that defeat was to Shahs of Sunset in the final
game of Group C. It was a result that meant Frank
Hirth B missed out on the Cup.
Shahs
of Sunset won that Group C game 1-0 and it was
their first win of the day. They drew their first
four games and were now on a run of three consecutive
wins by increasing margins 1-0, 3-1, 4-1 and they
were certainly getting into their stride at just
the right time. They had also taken the lead in
the last five games but that run was to end here.
Nick Wastell's third goal of the tournament put
Frank Hirth B in the driving seat and it was they
who lead 1-0 at the break.
The
second half was characterized by Shahs of Sunset
pressing for the equalizer with Frank Hirth B
either trying to hit on the break when the situation
allowed or try to play possession football to
protect their 1-0 lead. Anes Jusic came closest
to equalizing for Shahs of Sunset in the early
stages rattling a firm strike just over the bar.
At the other end Ross Annand had a chance for
2-0 which went just wide. There was then some
good work by Guillaume Amigues who put Paolo Ferrari
through but he stabbed just wide under pressure
from the advancing Frank Hirth B ‘keeper.
Matt
Limb then made it 2-0 and, with time not on the
side of Shahs of Sunset, he effectively sealed
the win for Frank Hirth B. We offer our consolations
to Shahs of Sunset on a fine campaign – they could
not have got any closer to the winners trophy.
Huge congratulations to our 2015 Lisbon Tournament
though – Frank Hirth B.
