Bubble Football (Por)

After 80 games of football we came down to the most important of them all. Game 81 – The 2015 Lisbon Tournament Cup Final.

The two teams set to do battle for the honour and glory of victory were Fidelidade and Bubble Football. There was no question we had the two correct teams in the final based on the overall day's play as we had the best two defences playing against the best two attacks.

Both these teams had a 100% record with 7 wins in 7 games to date. Bubble Football would probably start the game as slight favourites having the better overall goal difference to date with +24 compared to +15 for Fidelidade.

The game itself was played with a great atmosphere as the other teams, in the lofty position of the grandstand, all assembled to watch the show-piece game of the day. They were to witness an incredibly close first half with both teams leaving nothing on the sidelines and giving it their all on the pitch. The game was fiercely competitive but played in great spirits. As the game progressed it was clear that it would probably be the odd goal or penalties to decide this game. We reached the break level at 0-0.

In the early stages of the second half you could feel the momentum swinging a little bit towards Bubble Football as they cranked up the pressure. They were doing more of the attacking and Fidelidade were having to work very hard to stay in the game as they did more of the defending. Eventually the pressure told as Nelson Martins broke the deadlock to give Bubble Football a vital lead. There was still time for Fidelidade to recover though. Bubble Football then had a number of chances to wrap it up with Bruno Mendes, Ivo Simoes and Tiago Mendes going close – it was only some superb last ditch defending in the first case and great goalkeeping in the second and third cases that kept Bubble Football at bay. Fidelidade had their moments though as Pedro Camacho looked the danger man with a far post header that just went over and then a run and shot that went just wide. Ultimately time ran out for Fidelidade and the game finished 1-0.

It was a game full of technique and skill but there had to be a winner. That winner was a worthy winner as we crowned Bubble Football the 2015 Lisbon Tournament champions.

Our sincere commiserations to Fidelidade who had come so close to glory but just missed out. It was a superb day's play for them though with 7 wins and just 2 goals conceded it was a pretty impressive record.

Our congratulations go to CIS Committee on their second eurofootballfives.com victory. There is also congratulations to Ivo Simoes who finished the tournament top goalscorer with 7 goals!
