Round 2 started with It's Back versus Cheesecake FC. The former had suffered defeat in the first game and were looking to bounce back. The latter had recorded a victory first time out and were looking to build on it and make early advances on the road to Cup qualification.

The form book (today and over the years) would suggest this may well be a win for Cheesecake. The men in red had started slow and steady in Round 1 but moved through the gears in this fixture. Wes Armstrong opened the scoring and it was 1-0 at half-time.

Some people would say Cheesecake FC didn't really need any help but they got some assistance from Rich Hudson who unfortunately put through his own net to put Cheesecake 2-0 up. Clement Barouillet scored for the second game in a row to make it 3-0 before Ben Woods completed a 4-0 win.

It was a second 4-0 defeat for It's Back and they would rue the fixture list that had arguably given them their toughest two games at the start of the tournament. Things could only get better.

Cheesecake FC were looking good – they had 6 points from a possible 6, had scored 5 goals in the process plus goalkeeper David Smith and his defence were yet to concede a goal.

€agles 3:36 were up next as they took on Bubble Football. For €agles 3:36 this was their first taste of action on the pitch today having had the walkover win in Round 1.

€agles 3:36 are the artists formally known as New Milton Eagles. Last year they competed at our 2014 Mallorca Veterans Tournament and returned home with the Plate winners' trophy and medals in their luggage. Before then they had competed in our “open age” tournaments and celebrated Plate glory on another two occasions. The first win was when they made their debut with us at the 2010 Krakow Trophy when the Eagles Old Boys beat 5-times Plate Finalists DHL Prague Red of the Czech Republic 2-0 on penalties in the final. The second win was in the 2011 Algarve Open when Eagles UnAthletic beat Pimp My Side FC 2-1 in the final. They also competed in Budapest 2013 where they competed in our Plate Champion of Champions event finishing 6 th overall.

On the strength of Bubble Football's first game against It's Back they would be a force in this tournament and they did nothing to disprove that notion here. A patient first half saw the Portuguese reach half-time 1-0 up thanks to Bruno Mendes. In the second half they were ruthless with Bruno Mendes again on target before the goals were shared around – Tiago Mendes, Ivo Simoes, Nelson Martins and Ruben Figueiredo all on target. Final score, 6-0.

€agles 3:36….welcome to Lisbon!

To complete Round 2 we had Saga Louts versus Casa Amarela although as we now knew Casa Amarela were not here. Saga Louts were awarded a 3-0 win.
