The
2013 Mallorca Tournament Wooden Spoon Final would
see a Wales versus Spain fixture. Based upon group
performances you would find it tough to call a
winner as the group records were so similar in
terms of points, goals scored and goals conceded.
The game would be the first match on after the
lunch break and it drew a great crowd. This game
arguably had the greatest atmosphere of all in
the tournament and was a joy to watch.
Following
the group phase both teams had had a little break
before getting this match underway so would the
rest mean some stiffening of the joints or would
it mean a well-earned rest for some tired lungs
and hearts?
With
the Final underway it was first blood to Arenal
Vets who got the scoring underway through George
Miller who poked home from close range. It was
to get even better for the Vets when Mat O'Connor
doubled the lead before the break. Arenal Vets
had well and truly found their goal-scoring boots
as Thomas Hamilton made it 3-0 and Mat O'Conner
scored his second of the game.
Lee
Seager got on the scoresheet for the Welsh team
but there was no way back for Abertawe All Blacks
and Arenal Vets chalked up a 4-1 victory.
Congratulations
to Arenal Vets, commiserations to Abertawe All
Blacks – we hope you all enjoyed your tour!
