The
task facing El A Dees was exactly the same as
that of AB Kirby before their final game. El
A Dees looked like they would be going to the
Plate but if they could win and move on to 7
points then a place in the Cup could be theirs
if other results in this Group (and others)
went their way
Sportsman
Arenal could finish no better than second in
Group C but they could be caught by Tommy's
Tits if they lost and the Tits had a big win
in their last game. In that scenario it was
still possible for Sportsman Arenal to miss
out on the Cup. It was unlikely but the Sportsman
still had a job to do to absolutely guarantee
their place in the elite Cup competition.
El
A Dees were a quality team who had not quite
shown their true form so far in this tournament.
However, 4 points from the last possible 6 suggested
that form may be coming back. The first half
of this game showed the El A Dees of last year's
Amsterdam tournament and they matched Sportsman
Arenal blow for blow.
El
A Dees reached half time all square at 2-2 thanks
to goals from Oliver Wood and Jack Dungworth.
In the second half though the Spanish based
team forged ahead for 3-2 and then secured the
win 4-2. Sportsman Arenal's goals came from
Lee Baines, Chris Barr and two more for Ruben
Drober. Drober was now on 8 goals for the tournament.
The
result confirmed Sportsman Arenal's status in
the Cup and also confirmed El A Dees would be
playing Plate football this afternoon.
