Peluqeria Styl (Spa)

Eighteen teams came to do battle at the 2013 Mallorca Tournament, two remained – Inter Women and Peluqeria Styl. It was Englnd versus Spain for the ultimate prize. So far in our Mallorca tournaments we'd had two winners from Spain (Policia Mallorca, Cosegur Balear), one from France (Grant Thornton) and not yet a UK team. Inter Women were arguably favourites to break that duck.

We were treated to a game that was worthy of a final which was full of goals, entertainment and watched by a supportive crowd who thoroughly enjoyed it. The best thing about the Cup Final was that the two teams played it in a superb spirit despite the honours that were at stake.

Both teams retained a 100% record with an impressive 7 wins from 7 games. An eighth win and the victors would be crowned champions. Inter Women were looking to win their second eurofootballfives.com title and Peluqeria Styl were looking to turn last year's silver medals into gold medals this year.

Peluqeria Styl got off to the worst possible start leaving Neil Pennington in acres of space mid-way in their own half with the goalkeeper leaving an inviting gap to his left and Pennington struck true and low for 1-0 with barely a minute on the clock. The home team were on the back foot already. Inter Women were able to get men behind the ball, defend their box and hit their opponents on the break with the pace and energy of Daniel Powell with one of his colleagues also breaking to support.

Peluqeria Styl were allowed possession but they never looked like breaking Inter Women down and they fell further behind to Daniel Powell's 15th of the tournament. At half-time it was 2-0 and Inter Women had one hand on the trophy.

The pattern of the game continued in the second half and when Peluqeria did get a couple of shots off past the Inter Women defence Daniel Giles in goal was more than capable to bat them away. There were a couple of scares for Inter Women as a free-kick struck the arm of Ronnie Powell and a free kick was given just outside the box and a mazy run from Boadas where he showed sublime skill and trickery to beat about 5 men (some more than once) should have resulted in a goal but he failed to pull the trigger trying to walk it in. That's as close as they got though and at the other end Daniel Powell made it 3-0 to seal victory.

That's how it should have finished but in the dying seconds the Peluqeria Styl keeper tried to score a wonder goal from the back (they had nothing to lose after all) but got dispossessed in opposition territory. The ball found its way to Daniel Powell who rolled it into an empty net from the half-way line…all 10 players in the opposite half of the pitch. Final score, 4-0.

Daniel Powell picked up the tournament top goalscorer award with his 17 goals in the campaign. This was his third golden boot award in our tournaments.

Inter Women had become only the ninth team to win multiple Cup titles. The current roll call reads;
