As we entered the final Round of games there was much to play for and the main talking point at the top was who would win the Group B title? There were 3 points separated by just one point and two of those teams met in the first game of Round 5. They were Barley FC and Policia Mallorca.

Barley FC had 3 wins from 4 games and Policia Mallorca were unbeaten so far but had just dropped their first points with a draw in the last game. This game would be keenly watched by Kazakhstan FC who would be hoping for a draw. If Policia Mallorca could take victory they would also win the Group. If Barley FC were to win they would be favourites to win the group but could potentially be overhauled on goal difference.

With the talking over let the games begin. Policia Mallorca forged ahead in the opening half when Cristian Alvarez Carmona put the local team ahead. Barley FC and Kazakhstan FC were both hoping that Barley FC could get back into it. However, rather than being an equalizer the second goal of the game was also went to Policia Mallorca as Nacho Dosil Mayol made it 2-0. The game was up for Barley FC and they would have to wait and see if they had done enough to reach the Cup Quarter-Finals.

Policia Mallorca had not only secured their place in the Cup but had secured the Group B title. This was the second time in 4 tournaments they had won their group.

At the other end of Group B it was 5 th versus 6 th as Arenal Vets took on Whiteley Galacticos. Arenal Vets could avoid the Wooden Spoon if they could grab some points as the two other 6th placed teams were on 0 points also. If they lost they would most likely be in the Wooden Spoon as Whiteley Bad Boys in Group C had the best goal difference of the 6th placed teams on 0 points going into the last round.

Whiteley Galacticos had pride to play for and could finish in 4th place but their place in the Plate was assured. I am sure they would love to go into the Plate on a high. At half-time they led 1-0 with Mike Smith bagging the goal. After the break the Galacticos went from strength to strength as Jake Alford scored a hat-trick and Mike Smith added his second of the game. Final score, 5-0.

Whiteley Galacticos moved into 4th place for now….with one game in Group B to go.

The final game of Group B was Cheesecake FC versus Kazakhstan FC. For the former it was a last opportunity to register points in the group phase before we hit the knock-out stages and regain 4th position. For the latter, a draw or better would secure 2nd place in Group B and ensure qualification for the Cup. If Kazakhstan lost they could still make the Cup as one of the two best 3rd placed finishers but would have to wait for results to come in from Group A and C to see if this was the case.

Kazakhstan FC went into the game in fine form – 9 points out of 9, scoring 5 goals and conceding 0 since opening game defeat. Cheesecake FC also showed signs last time out of regaining some kind of form by drawing 0-0 with the league winners.

The game was tightly contested and we reached the break all square at 0-0. The goals were to come after the break with Cheesecake FC taking victory by the odd goal, 2-1. Wes Armstrong's 4th goal of the day and Mark Hignett's first goal of the day secured the victory. Alas for Kazakhstan FC, Phillip Beeston's 3rd goal of the day was only a consolation for them.

Other results would prove to go in Kazakhstan's favour and they would qualify for the Cup.
