Group B began with two teams experienced in eurofootballfives.com action as Barley FC took on Whiteley Galacticos.

Whiteley FC make their 5th appearance in European action with eurofootballfives to follow up their debut in the 2008 Amsterdam Fives. In the Dutch capital they reached the Cup Semi-Finals where they narrowly lost an 8-goal thriller, 5-3. In 2010, they played in the 2010 Algarve Open winning Group D before going out in the quarter-finals to Portuguese team Water Boy. 2011 saw a visit to the inaugural Budapest Fives with one team narrowly losing on penalties to eventual winners Al Kaloida (Hungary) in the Plate Quarter-Finals and their other team winning the 4-team Wooden Spoon convincingly in the final 6-1 against Sweden's A Magyar Pekseg.

Barley FC played in the 2012 Barcelona Fives when they were making their debut. It was almost a winning debut as they went all the way through to the Plate Final before having to settle for Runners-Up medals as they missed out to Spanish side Futbol 7.

There was nothing between these two teams in the opening game….nothing except one goal that is. The crucial goal was bagged by Stephen Jones of Barley FC and earned his team all 3 points.

Next up was Arenal Vets of Spain versus travelling team Cheesecake FC. Arenal Vets had been in and around our Mallorca tournaments for a few years following the Sportsman Arenal team – this was the first time the Vets team had entered themselves though .

Cheesecake FC are one of the strongest teams to have played in our tournaments without victory. The fact they have not won is down to the strength of their opposition. They made their debut in the 2010 Prague Masters in a field which also featured 3 past winners – Lozenetz City (Bul), Kehar Club (Cze) and Olympic Phil Babb (Eng). They met the latter in the Cup Semi-Finals and after a fine 3-3 draw went out on penalties. They then played in the 2011 Algarve Open which also featured 3 past winners – Goldsmith Williams and 9 Nana Budds (both UK) and Dutch side and defending champions Athletico Do Hollande. They met the latter in an epic final in front of a great crowd and sensational effort – unfortunately for them they were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline.

In 2012 they were here in the Mallorca Tournament which had 5 previous winners and they went out to the winners again with a Cup Semi-Final defeat to Cosegur Balear. Could 2013 be their year?

It looked good for them early on as they racked up a 7-0 win with goals from Waseem Khalique (2), Wes Armstrong (2), Justin Rees (2) and Kev Raphael.
