Meglapetes (Hun)

BBFC2 (Eng)

Bozeat All Stars (Eng)

The Puskas Dolls (Ire)

We were down to our final 4 teams in the Plate competition with teams representing Hungary, England and Ireland still in with a chance of silverware.

The first Semi-Final would see Meglapetes of Hungary versus BBFC2 of England. The Hungarian side were the most highly ranked of all the remaining teams in the group stages and would be considered one of the favourites for glory. If not for a blip at the end of their Group B challenge they could well be in the Cup competition.

That they were not was bad news for the remaining teams in the Plate. BBFC2 were playing with a new lease of life after the penalty shoot-out win and the Quarter-Final win. Could they take another step forward and reach the Plate Final?

The two teams had met before in Group B and on that occasion Megapletes ran out 3-0 winners. At half-time this was looking to be a much closer contest and the teams were all level at 0-0. In the second half though Megapletes went through the gears and we had a repeat of that 3-0 earlier scoreline. Peter Hegedus got the ball rolling, Richard Balogh made it 2-0 and Zsolt Horvath finished the job.

The second Semi-Final was Bozeat All Stars versus The Puskas Dolls. Who could join Meglapetes in the Plate Final?

Bozeat All Stars had so far enjoyed a happy record against Irish teams in this tournament (2-0 Los Langeros, 7-2 The Milf Hunters) and they were looking for a hat-trick of victories against The Puskas Dolls.

The Puskas Dolls would be no pushovers and hard to beat. They were unbeaten in 2/3 rds of their games to date and had just got off to winning ways.

With the game underway it was Bozeat All Stars who took the early initiative as Dan Bayes scored his fourth goal of the tournament to make it 1-0. That hat-trick of wins over Irish opposition was on the cards. Could The Puskas Dolls get back into this? Unfortunately for them no as Bozeat All Stars kept their 3rd clean sheet in 4 games and secured their place in the Plate Final.
