The
first final of the day would see Meglapetes versus
Bozeat All Stars. With seven games of football
already under their belt the two teams would need
to summon one last burst of energy to ensure they
would be picking up winners and not runners-up
medals in the presentation.
Meglapetes
were in a final on debut and looking to be the
second Hungarian team to win the Budapest Fives
Plate after the success of Csabagyongye last year.
Could Bozeat All Stars stop them?
The
two teams had played in Group B earlier in the
day and played out an exhilarating 2-2 where Bozeat
All Stars twice came from behind to secure a draw.
Meglapetes took the lead in this game too through
Peter Hegedus who had only scored two in this
tournament but both were vital – the opening goal
in the Plate Semi-Final and Plate Final. Zsolt
Horvath made it 2-0 with his fifth goal of the
tournament and they were in command 2-0 at half-time.
In
the second half Bozeat All Stars had a mammoth
task to turn seemingly Runners-Up medals into
the Winners medals and add a team trophy to their
baggage home. Their task got even tougher when
Norbert Savvnoh added his fifth of the competition
and at 3-0 it was all but done and dusted.
The
referee drew a close to the game and it was Meglapetes
who were celebrating. We offer our consolations
to Bozeat All Stars but they'd played superbly
today and whilst we're sure disappointed should
be proud of their achievements.
For
today though, we present you the 2013 Budapest
Fives Plate Winners – Meglapetes!
