Shahs
of Sunset needed just a point to secure the
Group A title when they played BBFC1. The latter
needed a win to ensure going through as one
of the best 3rd placed teams or a 6 goal win
to take 2nd or a 7 goal win to take 1st Should
this unlikely scenario take place Shahs of Sunset
would slip to 3rd in a 3-way tie at the top.
These
two teams had the best two defences in the group
though so a goal-fest of this proportion was
unlikely. Shahs of Sunset had yet to concede
and BBFC1 had kept clean sheets in 7 of the
8 halves of football they'd played…until a bit
of a blip in that other half.
It
was perhaps no surprise then that the game finished
0-0. Congratulations to Shahs of Sunset for
winning the Group A title and Samir Benyounes
and his defence for going through an entire
6-team group without shipping a single goal.
BBFC1
finished 3rd and it would prove to be enough
as results in the other groups meant they would
qualify for the Cup as one of the two best 3rd
placed finishers.
