So,
who would meet PVDC Eindhoven in the Trophy Final?
Would it be FC Dad or Cranwell?
Cranwell
were now our second top scorers in the tournament
with only the might of Greek team Sintetrimeni
ahead of them. It was a remarkable achievement
for a team who were in the Trophy competition
and was a rarity.
They
were up against FC Dad - the most experience team
left in the competition. Their knockout record
read:
2011
Prague Masters: Plate Quarter-Finals
2012
Valencia Fives: Trophy Final
2013
Lisbon Tournament: DNQ
2014
Budapest Fives: Trophy Semi-Finals
2015
Barcelona Fives: Trophy Quarter-Finals
2016
Riga Tournament: Cup Semi-Finals
2017
Mallorca Fives: Plate Quarter-Finals
2018
Gdansk Tournament: Plate Quarter-Finals
This
was their third Trophy Semi-Final and they were
bidding to reach their second Trophy Final.
Cranwell
were first in as they took a 1-0 lead thanks to
Jack Harrison. His 9th goal of the tournament
which would mean he would end up joint top scorer
in the whole tournament – a very fine personal
achievement. His team would lead 1-0 at the interval.
The
second half saw an FC Dad masterclass and in fact
a Calum Jones masterclass. He struck a fine hat-trick
to stage an excellent comeback for his team. This
was FC Dad's second hat-trick in our tournaments.
Calum Jones also scored the first, also at the
Barcelona Fives – in the 4-1 win over ABCDE FC
in the 2015 tournament.
It
was all over for Cranwell for this year. They
have hinted they will return to eurofootballfives.com
action next year for another crack at success.
We hope they do and best regards to all.
