We began Round 4 with each team having played 3 games. They now had just two games each to stake their claim for the Cup or the Plate competition in the knock-out phase.

VNV were first up and they had been dealing with 1-0 results so far – 1 win and 2 defeats by that specific scoreline. Their opposition, Sintetrimeni, had just suffered a shock in the previous round. Having topped the table with two excellent wins they were brought down to earth with a 1-0 defeat to FC Maroon. They were currently in second place courtesy of goal difference. They still had work to do to secure their place in the Cup competition.

It was normal service resumed for Sintetrimenti as they broke the deadlock in this game thanks to a goal from Perikilis Karvounis which is how we were when the referee blew the whistle for half-time. VNV had been dealing in 1-0's so far and they probably would have taken that at this stage given the strength of the opposition.

VNV still had a second half to play though and Sintetrimeni eased away from the Dutch team. 1-0 became 2-0 which then became 3-0. The first half dangerman (Perikilis Karvounis) was also the main goal threat in the second half. He went on to complete a hat-trick as Sintetrimeni returned to winning ways and went back to the top of the table pending games in hand for Northern Town and FC Maroon.

The 11th game in Group B was Footballab versus FC Maroon.

Footballab came into the game having scored their first goals and having picked up their first point in the previous fixture. FC Maroon remained unbeaten with 2 wins and 1 draw to their name so far. That doesn't quite tell the whole story though as one of those wins was over the mighty Greeks.

Talking of the Greeks, Sintetrimeni had just gone above FC Maroon with their 3-0 win over VNV. FC Maroon could leapfrog back above their Group B rivals by securing a win from this game. It was so far so good at the break for FC Maroon with James Alawi-Yates putting them 1-0 up.

As things stood FC Maroon were on course for top spot, but in this topsy-turvy group, Footballab had other ideas. They came from behind twice against Bracknell Vets in the previous game and they recovered their deficit here with an equalizer from Giorgio Bertelli. It got even better for Footballab when Bertelli scored a second and winning goal for his team. The Spanish had their first win of the day and were up to fourth in the table.

At the top of the table, we had seen Sintetrimeni win and FC Maroon lose. The third of the triumvirate of top half teams were Northern Town. They could move joint top with Sintetrimeni if they could take 3 points. Such was the Greek team's goal difference it was likely to mean second place unless the floodgates opened.

Bracknell Vets would be no pushovers though. Although they had lost their opener they had bounced back with two successive draws. They were still seeking out their first win in the tournament but took a giant step forward to this objective courtesy of Sam Clark's third goal in two games.

Northern Town then moved through the gears that showed why they were 2018 Gdansk champions. Cameron M'Crystal produced the equalizing goal before Conal O'Rourke scored his first of the competition. Cameron M'Crystal then made it 3-1 to extinguish hopes of a Bracknell Vets comeback.

It was a crucial win for Northern Town as they now looked good for Cup qualification.
