With the game underway it was Patagonia who took an early lead through Juan to lead 1-0. Now, a lot of teams when they lose a goal in a Cup Final can look worried and increase the urgency in their play and lose their rhythm or pattern of play. Not so, Sintetrimeni. It didn't even seem to phase them and in fact they wasted no time in turning the game around as Andreas Aggelopoulos equalized. He was becoming an increasing influence as this tournament progressed. Perikilis Karvounis then put them 2-1 up. We were still only midway through the first half. Before half-time Perikilis Karvounis made it 3-1 to put Sintetrimeni in control.

At the start of the second half, if Patagonia had any hopes of a comeback they were quickly extinguished and extinguished in style. At the very start of the second half a searching ball from the back found Perikilis Karvounis pull off a sensational scissor kick volley to make it 4-1. It was a goal worthy of a Cup Final if ever there was one. Patagonia now had to chase the game and from their own corner they found themselves 5-1 down. Sintetrimeni won the first ball and broke, Panagiotis Karachanidis saw the Patagonian goalkeeper off his line and nonchalantly chipped him for 5-1. It was Karachanidis's 9 th goal of the tournament and he would end up joint top scorer.

All credit goes to Patagonia as they kept on going forward and they managed to get a late consolation to make it 5-2 but they were ultimately beaten by a better team on the day. Patagonia wore Argentina shirts and four players had #10 on the back. As it was pointed out to us, even with four Messi's on the pitch they were unable to beat Sintetrimeni.

Our sincere commiserations to Patagonia who had come so close to glory but just came up against a better team. It was still a great debut and if they can join us next year then they would be amongst the favourites for sure.

Today though, our congratulations go to Sintetrimeni on their first eurofootballfives.com victory and it was a second eurofootballfives.com win for Greece in our events. They were ultimately worthy winners. Greece has now boasted the Barcelona Fives winners for 2018 & 2019.

We'd like to say a big thank you to all 24 teams who participated. The success of this great event really was down to everyone supporting it. It's easy to say but it was definitely true that that tournament was played in a great spirit. We thank everyone for being on time for fixtures and helping us keep everything running so everyone could have a superb time. The Barcelona Fives, as ever, proved to be a fantastic climax to our season and we very much hope to see you all in 2020 in Barcelona and/or one of our other destinations. Already we're getting withdrawal symptons, we can't wait for 2020!
