We were down to our final 4 teams in the Plate competition. The first Semi-Final would see Ospina Coladas versus FK Aliance. This promised to be a high quality encounter.

Both teams had performed well today. Ospina Coladas had 2 wins, 3 draws and just the 1 defeat. FK Aliance had 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats. Ospina Coladas had an 8-6 goal difference. FK Aliance were 9-7. Both teams had required a penalty shoot-out to reach this stage. There was very little between them on paper.

There was a difference between them in the first half here and that difference was Christopher John's fifth goal of the tournament. After the break, FK Aliance were level. Ainars Berzins scored the vital goal to put his team back in it. We finished at 1-1, another penalty shoot-out was required.

Ospina Coladas would take the first penalty shoot-out and duly scored it. Edgars Polkovs immediately levelled for FK Aliance. There was drama as Christopher John then hit the post as FK Aliance now held the advantage. Kristaps Tavlavicus went high and powerful down the middle to make it 2-1. The pressure was on Adam Watson who had to score – Graham Williams saved a pen in the Quarters and he now had a save in the Semis as he pushed Watson's penalty away to safety.

It was farewell to Ospina Coladas for the day but we thank them for attending the tournament and continuing to support these events.

The second Semi-Final was Paralytic Athletic versus Rodger Fingers. Who could join FK Aliance in the Plate Final?

Paralytic Athletic had a rather impressive record in the knock-out phase of our tournaments – they were unbeaten….in normal time. At the 2016 Amsterdam Fives they went out to the eventual winners on penalties in the Cup Semis. At the 2017 Budapest Fives they went out to the eventual winners on penalties in the Cup Semis. At the 2018 Riga Tournament they went out to the eventual winners on penalties in the Cup Quarters. They were now in the Plate and no doubt one of the favourites to lift the trophy.

Rodger Fingers would no doubt have their own ideas about that and how to stop their opponents. They had just seen off the challenge of the Paralytic Athletic U23s in the previous round and would hope to do the double over Paralytic. It was Rodger Fingers who took the lead and lead at the break (1-0) thanks to Hardeep Marwaha's fifth of the day.

Paralytic Athletic were level in the second period thanks to a Nanda McCarthy goal. The game was turned around when Paralytic Athletic went 2-1 up. The lead did not last for long though thanks to Hardeep Marwaha's second of the game. At 2-2 it looked like we would be heading for a 5th penalty shoot-out in 6 Plate fixtures. James Moysey had other ideas as he struck a winner to send his team into the Plate Final. What a game!
