Last
but not least, we turned our attentions to Group
D where the group began with AFC Underworld
versus Agger Diouf Diouf Diouf.
AFC
Underworld (Spa) made their debut at the 2018
Barcelona Fives and it was an impressive debut.
They won their first four group games (3-1,
3-0, 7-0, 2-0) and finished with a 1-1 draw
against Red Light Runners (Ire). The draw meant
they finished second in the table behind the
Irish team. They still went through to the Cup
competition where they met the 2015 champions,
Club Esportiu Llefia. It was the end of the
road for AFC Underworld as a narrow 1-0 defeat
ended their tournament.
With
this in mind, it was a cracking start for Agger
Diouf Diouf Diouf as they raced into a 3-0 lead
by half-time. Ian Rosie scored their first of
the day and then made it 2-0 before Matthew
Berka opened his personal account.
AFC
Underworld had their work cut out and whilst
they pulled one back through Ethan Low they
had given themselves too much work to do. Agger
Diouf Diouf Diouf collected all 3 points, 3-1.
Match
2 in Group D saw FNV (NL) versus Danish Dynamites
(Den).
Danish
Dynamites (Den) became the first team to represent
Denmark in our tournaments when they competed
at the 2017 Barcelona Fives. It was a hugely impressive
debut. They won Group D with 16 points from their
7 games and this included finishing above the
defending champions, Elcombe Old Boys. They collected
5 wins, 1 draw and just the 1 defeat. They scored
17 goals and conceded just 5 along the way.
In
the knock-out phase they progressed through the
Quarter-Finals with a 2-0 win over Fiorentina
Turner 2 and then drew France's L'Albiceleste
in the Semi-Finals. The French team had won 2
of our titles before and Danish Dynamites secured
a 0-0 draw. The French team won 2-1 on penalties.
Danish
Dynamites kicked off here in 2019 like they had
unfinished business. They stormed to a 9-0 win
which was to be the biggest win of the tournament.
There were 4 goals for Jesper Frisch, 2 for Martin
Frisch, 2 for Jens Bodker Knudsen and an own goal
for good measure. What a start for Denmark!
Cranwell
versus Rodger Fingers was the final match in the
opening round of Group C. It was two teams on
debut although Rodger Fingers had eurofootballfives.com
experience in their ranks. Hertej Rattan had played
for FC Maroon (who were also here today) before
and Raj Dhaliwal, Hardeep Marwaha & Saaj Singh
had played for Dynamo Fucdarest before – including
at the 2015 Barcelona Fives.
After
the early exchanges it was honours even as the
two teams entered the half-time break level at
0-0. In the second half it was Rodger Fingers
who seized the initiative with Hardeep Marwaha
opening the scoring. Hertej Rattan then doubled
the lead.
It
was a winning start for Rodger Fingers who took
all 3 points.
