As you can see above, FC Dad had been at this stage before albeit some 7 years ago. They were involved in quite a game with Sporting Abeergut. They were trailing 3-1 to a Matt Johnson hat-trick in the late stages of the game when goalkeeper Stuart Leslie left his position in goal and turned in a second goal for FC Dad to reduce arrears 3-2. FC Dad then put on a great late rally to try and force and equalizer and send the game into penalties. It was a highlight and .one of the most memorable moments in our tournaments over the years.

The stage was now set for PVDC Eindhoven and FC Dad to set their own little piece of history. Who would be victorious?

With the game underway, this match saw two teams look pretty well matched and we reached half-time level at 0-0. 2 of our 6 Trophy Finals in Barcelona had been settled via penalties (6 of 16 overall) and it wasn't beyond the realms of possibility that this final would be decided in the same manner.

We would get a winner in the second half and negate the need for a penalty shoot-out. The game would be decided by just the odd goal – who would step forward and be the hero for their team? That man was Connor Secker. His goal ensured PVDC Eindhoven would end their 2019 Barcelona Fives campaign on a high.

Our commiserations go to FC Dad who gave it a real go today – so close to collecting that first European win. Although scant consolation, they had a set of runners-up medals to add to their collection.

For today though, we present you the 2019 Barcelona Fives Trophy Winners – many congratulations to PVDC Eindhoven.
