Each team in Group A had a game under their belts to settle into the tournament. We continued with The Warriors versus Los Amblos.

These two teams had been drawn in the same group for the third season in a row. At the 2017 Mallorca Veterans Tournament they met in their respective final fixtures of Group B – it was a closely fought game which saw Los Amblos (playing as Crabtree Amblers) win 1-0. Ade Chester was the man on target.

12 months ago at the Algarve Veterans Tournament it finished all square at 1-1. Mike Petevinos put Los Amblos ahead before James Newton levelled thing up for The Warriors.

As you can see games between the two had been very close and it was to be the case again here in Alicante. It appeared that Los Amblos had the upper hand in these games and they forged ahead for the third year in a row thanks to a James Myers goal this time.

Los Amblos lead 1-0 at the break and they maintained their lead through to full-time as The Warriors were unable to claim an equalizer this year.

The next game was Sandgate Salmons against Dream Team. Sandgate had drawn a pretty tough first game against 3x times eurofootballfives.com winners FC Mahou. They were now up against a Spanish team who had looked equally as impressive in the opening round, Dream Team.

Dream Team had opened up with a 2-0 win over The Warriors and were looking to go top of the table with a second win here. It went to plan in the early stages as Jose Martinez Martinez (so good they named him twice?) scored for the second game in a row.

After the change of ends Dream Team extended their lead thanks to Miguel Angel Martinez Gonzalez. At 2-0 it looked like an uphill task for Sandgate Salmons, at 3-0 it looked like a mountain to climb. Miguel Angel Martinez Gonzalez scored his second of the game to seal a 3-0 win for the Spanish team.

FC Mahou (Eng) were making an 11th eurofootballfives.com appearance overall and were competing in the Veterans Tournament for the third time. The first time was a hugely successful mission to Mallorca in 2017. There was no question they were worthy winners with 7 wins out of 7 as they roared to the title.

At the 2018 Algarve Veterans Tournament they looked set for another title. They won 4 and drew 2 of their group games as they won Group B. In the Cup Semi-Finals they drew 0-0 with Hungary's FC Miracle but went out 3-2 on penalties.

Today FC Mahou had opened up with a solid 2-0 win versus Sandgate Salmons. Another win would give them a share of the lead in Group A. They were up against CT1 (Spa) who had a successful opening game themselves with a 1-0 win against Los Amblos.

Mike Brandon scored twice in Round 1 and he in amongst the goals again to give FC Mahou a 1-0 lead. Francisco Manuel Perades Jordi equalized for CT1 as he became the first man to score against Marc Lawrie today.

CT1 were not level for long though as Mike Brandon put FC Mahou ahead again at 2-1. There was to be no further goals as FC Mahou made it a 100% start to their Alicante campaign.
