Game
2 of Group A was L'Albiceleste (Fra) versus Brewin
Dolphin A (Eng).
L'Albiceleste
(Fra) arrive in Alicante as the most successful
team in the Open Age draw with 3 titles to their
name. Under the name of Grant Thornton they won
the 2013 Mallorca Fives and as L'Albiceleste they
won the 2016 Riga Tournament and 2017 Barcelona
Fives.
Their
most recent performance was at the 2018 Algarve
Open where they looked on course to win a fourth
title. 7 wins out of 7 in Group A made them favourites
as we entered the knock-out phase. A 3-0 win over
a strong FC Gymnasium (Por) only enhanced that
reputation. A surprise 1-0 defeat to a spirited
Cruz Del Sur in the Semi-Finals prevented them
collecting another trophy.
This
was a tough start on paper for Brewin Dolphin
A but they kept it tight in the first half. A
solitary goal by Thibault Kerouredan was what
separated the two teams. After the break the French
team showed their class with goals from Cyrille
Segalini, Cedric Castarede and Antoine Loscul
all contributing to a 4-0 victory. |
