Last but not least, we come to Group C where the group began with Turn Down For Watford making their debut against Fylde Old Boys FC. Turn Down For Watford were one of four debut teams in Group C so we would see our first glimpse of them in action.

Fylde Old Boys FC were making their third eurofootballfives.com appearance in as many years. Their most recent performance on tour was l ast year they took two teams to the 2018 Amsterdam Fives. The A team won 3 and lost 2 on their way to a third placed finish in Group C. They qualified for the Cup but ran into eventual winners Melee FC and lost 4-1. The B team had a tougher time in Group A where they lost 5 out of 5 and were eliminated. They concentrate their strength into one team for Alicante.

It was Fylde Old Boys FC who drew first blood as Chris Brown scored the opening goal in the group. It proved to be a valuable goal as it earned all three points for his team. There will be plaudits for Jonny Schofield in goal for Fylde who kept a clean sheet as his team made a solid start.

It was defeat for Turn Down For Watford but they had shown enough in this fixture to show they could make a mark on this tournament.

Match 2 in Group C saw Elysian FC take on Brewin Dolphin B. It was another case of a team on debut against a team making their third performance in as many years in our events.

Brewin Dolphin B had witnessed their A team losing 4-0 in their opening game of Group A. Could the B team fare any better?

Yes and no is the answer to that. No, in the sense that Brewin Dolphin B would also open up with a defeat but yes in the sense that the margin of defeat was smaller than that of their A team's loss. Scant consolation I am sure.

From an Elysian FC perspective it was a cracking start to the tournament. Their first three goals, first three points and a clean sheet for goalkeeper for Cem Temur. Goals were scored by Moosa Hafesji, Abdulnassir Kamye and Maamoon Ali Khan. Job done.

The last two teams to get underway in Group C were both new to eurofootballfives.com competition. They were Panadero Loco Sport (Spa) and GAT Assurance (Tun). As both of these teams were on their eurofootballfives.com debut they had a blank canvas upon which to paint their footballing artistry. Let the games commence….

This was a historic match in our tournaments as it represented the first ever appearance by a team from Tunisia. Tunisia became the 39th nation to have team representation at our events only a few minutes after USA had become the 38th in Group B. They are the third new country to be represented in the 2019 season after Finland made their debut in Gdansk last month.

It proved to be a tough debut for Tunisia as they met a very good Spanish team. Panadero Loco Sport took the lead through Angel Jose Alarcon Juarez and never looked back. Kaddir Abderrahim made it 2-0, Moumetez Ghaouti made it 3-0 before Kaddir Abderrahim added his second for 4-0.

The clean sheet for Samuel Brugarolas Juarez made it a perfect start for Panadero.
