We began Round 4 with AC Motxo International versus Galacticos.

AC Motxo International had just collected their first win of the tournament and came into this game looking to push up the table. A Spanish win would put them level with Galacticos in second position. Galacticos were looking for 3 points of their own to move level with L'Albiceleste at the summit of Group A.

Since opening game defeat, Galacticos had scored 13 goals without reply and their form continued unabated here. AC Motxo International put in a good performance but they were unable to stop Galacticos. Yaseen Patel and Hamza Patel goals secured a 2-0 win.

You may have seen earlier that we presented Cedric Castarede belatedly with his top goalscorer award from the 2018 Algarve Open. We had a similar situation with Hamza Patel at the 2018 Lisbon Tournament. Hamza finished level with Hector Navarro Real in Portugal on 10 goals but we only had one trophy. So, we brought another trophy to Alicante to present to Hamza. With 4 goals today, could Hamza be in line for another trophy later this afternoon?

In Game 11 of Group A we had L'Albiceleste versus Lostwithiel FC. This would turn out to be a historic game.

Let's have a look at L'Albiceleste's group phase record in our tournaments:

2012 Budapest Fives: P5 W4 D1 L0 F8 A1 Points – 13 (1st)

2012 Valencia Fives: P4 W2 D2 L0 F10 A7 Points – 8 (1st)

2013 Mallorca Fives: P5 W4 D1 L0 F13 A3 Points – 13 (1st)

2014 Berlin Fives: P4 W4 D0 L0 F14 A2 Points – 12 (1st)

2016 Riga Tournament: P5 W4 D0 L1 F14 A6 Points – 12 (1st)

2017 Barcelona Fives: P7 W5 D2 L0 F18 A4 Points – 17 (2nd)

2018 Algarve Open: P7 W7 D0 L0 F12 A1 Points – 21 (1st)

2019 Alicante Fives: P3 W3 D0 L0 F8 A0 Points – 9 (1st)

Group Record Total: P40 W33 D6 L1 F97 A24 Points 105

As you can see, the French team had a phenomenal record. They had just 1 defeat in 40 group games! That game came in their first match at the 2016 Riga Tournament. They were currently on a run of 21 games unbeaten including 3 today.

What was just as astonishing was the defensive record with just 24 goals conceded in 40 games. They were yet to concede today.

We mention all this not just to recognise the achievement of L'Albiceleste but also to represent just how big a win this was for Lostwithiel FC!

It was a huge win for Lostwithiel FC. Jamie Facey become the first man to score past Mickael Martin today and his goal was followed by Josh Cook. Alex Jacques kept a second clean sheet of the tournament and Lostwithiel FC had a historic win.

With Lostwithiel FC's win above the group really opened up. The top three teams were separated by just 2 points. 9 Nana Budds could join them with a win in the final game of Round 4.

9 Nana Budds had just seen their 8 game unbeaten run come to an end but had the perfect opportunity to bounce back against Brewin Dolphin A who were currently at the foot of the table. 9 Nana Budds were looking to win back to back titles after success in the Algarve last year. If they were to achieve that a win was essential here to give them a chance of reaching the Cup in the final round of fixtures.

The early stages of this game belonged to John Mastel. With one goal already under his belt today he added a hat-trick to his goal tally as he put 9 Nana Budds 3-0 up. At 3-0 they moved above Lostwithiel FC in the table on goal difference. 9 Nana Budds strengthened that position with additional goals from Will Crowther and Jack Kennedy. Final score, 5-0.
