Round 3 started with Turn Down For Watford versus GAT Assurance. Both teams had lost their opening encounter before a more positive result in Round 2.

GAT Assurance had begun with a 4-0 defeat before a solid 0-0 draw against the team second in the table (Fylde Old Boys FC). Turn Down For Watford had lost 1-0 to Fylde Old Boys FC before bouncing back in sensational style with a 9-0 win over Brewin Dolphin B. That was to be the biggest win in Group C by a long way.

With the match under starters orders there was very little to choose between the two teams in the first half. Defences were on top and the teams changed ends with the score deadlocked at 0-0.

It took something special to make the breakthrough. Jason Opuku Afriyie twisted and turned his way past defenders in the right wing position before getting to the byline. With nothing on in the middle he fired the ball home off the unfortunate goalkeeper. Unfortunate for the goalkeeper but clever play from Jason Opuku Afriyie who was credited with the goal.

With a 1-0 advantage behind them Turn Down For Watford turned the screw and ended up 2-0 victors. Daniel Rennie scored for the second game in a row to seal the win.

Next up was two 100% records. Brewin Dolphin B had a 100% loss ratio, Panadero Loco Sport had a 100% win ratio. This looked like Panadero Loco Sport were heavy favourites. If they could keep their run going they would open up a 3 point lead at the top of Group C.

Brewin Dolphin must have been fearing the worst. Not only because they were facing the top team but they came into the game on the back of a 9-0 loss. Not ideal preparation or good for the confidence. In that context, Brewin Dolphin put in a decent showing here especially when you consider the strength of the opposition.

Panadero Loco Sport did continue their winning run. They won 4-0 thanks to goals from Moumetez Ghaouti (x2), Kaddir Abderrahim and Angel Jose Alarcon Juarez. With two games to go it looked almost certain they would progress to the Cup.

At the end of Round 2, Fylde Old Boys FC and Elysian FC were in second position and fourth positions respectively. With the two results above, they now sat in third and fourth positions. The winners of this tie could look forward to second place (in the case of Fylde Old Boys FC) or a share of second position (in the case of Elysian FC). If this game were to finish in a draw then the teams would remain in their current third and fourth placed positions.

This was a feisty and hotly contested fixture with more yellow cards than goals such was the desire to win from both teams. There was certainly no case of playing for a draw which to be fair would not have really helped either team in the overall context of Group C (although clearly better than a defeat).

In the end the game would be decided by the one goal. The goal was scored by Zed Patel of Elysian FC. What an important goal for his team it proved to be. It took them up to joint second position (third on goal difference). Fylde Old Boys FC slipped to fourth place but were only 2 points away from second position. With 2 games left each there was still a lot to play for.
