On
Pitch B we had the intriguing contest of Tysers
versus Trinacria. Why intriguing? Well it was
a repeat of the 2018 Lisbon Tournament Trophy
Final.
In
Lisbon last year the two teams played out a
1-1 draw in normal time in the final before
Trinacria went on to win the penalty shoot-out
3-1. In the group phase of the Lisbon Tournament
Trinacria had defeated Tysers (2-0) so this
was a third opportunity for the English team
to defeat their Belgian opponents.
Both
teams came into the game with a bit of momentum.
Tysers lost their opening 3 games but were now
unbeaten in 2 matches after finishing with two
1-1 draws. Could it be another 1-1 draw leading
to another penalty shoot-out?
Trinacria
came into the knock-out phase on the back of
a thumping 5-1 win at the end of Group B. This
game was a lot more calm in terms of the number
of goals.
Half-time came and went with the scores level
at 0-0. The second half was there to be won by
either team. It was quite a contest but it was
Tysers who emerged victorious. Lee Shaw was the
hero of the hour with the crucial goal that sent
his team through, 1-0. |
