Mini FC (Por)

It was Cup Final time in Portugal. After 75 games of football we came down to the most important of them all. Game 76, the match that would determine the 2019 Algarve Open Tournament champions.

The two teams on show were Red Star and Mini FC. Both teams had earned their places in the Cup Final one way or another.

Red Star

Played 7, Won 4, Drawn 1, Lost 2

Goal difference: +4 (9-5)

Top Scorer: Dino, Rui (3)

Clean sheets: 2

Games unbeaten: 4

Previous honours: Debut.

Mini FC

Played 7, Won 5, Drawn 1, Lost 1

Goal difference: +9 (13-4)

Top Scorer: Joao Simoes, 9.

Clean sheets: 4

Games unbeaten: 5

Previous honours: 2015 & 2018 Algarve Veterans winners

Often these finals can be close cagey affairs but this one had goals and plenty of them. There were three in the first half with Mini FC shading it. Joao Simoes scored both for Mini FC. He moved on to 11 goals for the tournament and earned the Top Goalscorer award – well done to him.

An Adriano goal kept Red Star in the hunt. It was a similar story after the break with Mini FC scoring twice more – through Pives and Pedro (not the Chelsea one!). Adriano had not scored in the tournament at all for Red Star but he popped up with a second in the show-piece game. Clearly a man for the big occasion. His goals though were merely consolation goals as Mini FC claimed a 4-2 victory.
