Round 2 started with Speldhurst Rangers versus Southgate County 2s.

 

Speldhurst Rangers started brightly before slipping to first game defeat. Southgate County 2s had opened up with a solid 2-0 victory. Southgate County 2s had due to be populated by the players of Southgate County 1s until a late switch. Would this mean that the ‘2s' would be stronger than that ‘1s'?

 

Speldhurst Rangers got off to another good start here in Round 2. They opened the scoring for the second game running. Ollie Crees was the man to score the goal. They went into half-time 1-0 up as they did last time out.

 

In the second half Speldhurst Rangers avoided letting their opponents back in with an own goal and went on to keep a clean sheet. They polished off a fine 1-0 win and now had their first eurofootballfives.com win safely under their belts.

 
 
 

Game 5 of Group C saw Panic At The Isco finally hit the ground running. They had collected their 3-0 walkover in Round 1 but this was their first chance to show what they could do on the pitch.

 

Water Boy would be their opponents and they had quote a CV in our Algarve tournaments.

 

2011: 2nd in Group. Cup Quarter-Finals.

2012: Group winners. Cup Semi-Finals.

2013: 4th in Group. Plate Winners.

2014: Group winners. Cup Runners-Up

2015: Group winners. Cup Semi-Finals

2015 Vets: 3rd in Group. Plate Semi-Finals.

2016: Bottom of Group. Plate Runners-Up

2018 Vets: 3rd in Group. Plate Winners.

2019: ???

 

There was nothing to separate these two teams on the field of play. The first half came and went with the teams locked together at 0-0. The second half went exactly the same way. The teams had to settle for 1 point each which would see them finish Round 2 as the top two teams.

 
 
 

As well as playing here in the Algarve before (see Round 1), Scoregasm had played twice in our Mallorca Tournament. They made their debut in the 2011 Mallorca Tournament and finished 2nd in their group behind Quayaquil 100% of Ecuador. They went on to the Cup Semi-Finals where they lost to Policia Local de Palma (Spa) – the eventual winners.

 

Their last appearance was at the 2015 Mallorca Tournament with 2 teams -Scoregasm and 2Goals1Cup . Scoregasm secured 4 points and 2Goals1Cup took 3 points from their respective 5 group games. It meant the two teams reached the Plate Quarter-Finals and they drew each other. 2Goals1Cup won the derby 2-1 and then picked up a 2-0 win in the Semi-Final. In the final they succumbed to Seleccion Balear but picked up runners-up medals in the presentation.

 

After the early exchanges today it looked like their form was more in keeping with 2015 than 2011. Scoregasm slipped to a 2-0 defeat first time out and were on the wrong end of a 4-0 score to Allez Les Pinos.

 

For the Portuguese team there were goals from Nuno Viegas, Joao Moita, Nuno Viegas and Paulo Medina.
