Round 3 started with Speldhurst Rangers versus Panic At The Isco. A quick look at the league table would show the top 5 teams all separated by just 1 point. If either team could pull off victory here they would get full value for their 3 points. A draw would see both teams stay in the middle of the pack.

For the first time today Speldhurst Rangers failed to score the opening goal of the game. We had seen mixed results in them leading from the front (won 1, lost 1) but now we would see what they were like at chasing a game. Nick Simson was the man with the first goal of the tournament for Panic At The Isco.

Panic At The Isco kicked off the second half 1-0 up but would end it 2-0 up. Tom Cryer extended the lead and ensured his team would take all 3 points. It meant they would have at least a share of the Group C lead at the end of Round 3.

We went into Game 8 of Group C with Southgate County 2s due to meet Allez Les Pinos.

If you were reading the report from Group A (which of course you did) you will have seen how Southgate County have fared in our tournaments before. If you haven't read the Group A report (shame on you) then here is a quick summary:

2015 Berlin Fives: 3rd of 6 teams on 9 points. Cup Quarter-Finals.

2016 Lisbon Tournament: 3rd of 5 teams on 6 points. Plate Winners

2017 Mallorca Tournament: 5th of 6 teams on 3 points. Plate Semi-Finals.

The latter of those 3 tournaments may well be an anomaly as it doubled as a stag weekend so results may well be skewed! Southgate County 2s had mixed results so far (won 1, lost 1) and were up against an Allez Les Pinos side who looked impressive in their 4-0 win over Scoregasm.

Indeed it was Allez Les Pinos who opened the scoring thanks to Alfonso Noufeso. Importantly, Southgate County 2s were not behind for long. Jack Clark levelled things up and we were 1-1 at half-time. The teams played out a goal-less second period and would take one point each.

To complete Round 3 we had Scoregasm versus Water Boy which was a repeat of the 2014 Algarve Open Cup Semi-Final.

If we wind the clock back for that game, Water Boy had just won Group A with 4 wins and 1 defeat from 5 games with a goal difference of 8-3. Scoregasm had finished second in Group B with 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat with a goal difference of 7-4. They were very evenly matched and so it proved in the Semi-Final with Water Boy edging it 1-0. Victor Reis was the match winner that day but he was not involved in the 2019 Water Boy squad.

If you looked at the Group C table today you would see Water Boy in second position and start as favourites against sixth placed Scoregasm. The form book suggested a Water Boy win. The form book is often wrong but it was right in this game as Water Boy sealed a 2-0 victory. Rafa and Tiago were the men on target for Water Boy in today's game.
