The
second final of the day would see Inextremes and
Norton Hill Old Boys come head-to-head in a bid
to lift the 2012 Mallorca Tournament Plate Title.
Who
would emerge victorious? Well, we could look at
their previous encounter in the group stage to
give us a clue. On that occasion a closely contested
game was won by Norton Hill Old Boys who won an
explosive contest 2-0. Since then both teams had
gone from strength to strength. Norton Hill Old
Boys were enjoying their best ever run in eurofootballfives
competition unbeaten in 4 games. Inextremes had
now won two in a row including the prized scalp
of 4-times Cup champions, Olympic Phil Babb.
With
seven games of football already under their belts
the two teams would need to summon one last burst
of energy to ensure they would be picking up winners
and not runners-up medals in the presentation.
The game started off at quite a pace and we enjoyed
three first half goals with Norton Hill Old Boys
enjoying the majority to lead 2-1. It was two
more goals for Mark Paget who took his tally for
the day to 8 goals – joint leading scorer in the
tournament.
Inextremes
had one half of football left to avoid defeat
– could they find an equalizer? It was always
going to be difficult but when they went down
to 4 men it was going to get even more difficult.
It was the second time they'd had a man sent off
against Norton Hill Old Boys and this ill-discipline
had cost them.
Norton
Hill Old Boys comfortably held on to secure victory,
a double win against Inextremes, extend their
unbeaten run to 5 games and, above all, claim
the Plate victory. It was a great win for the
lads who had exceeded their own ambitions and
it was our pleasure to host them in Mallorca over
the tournament weekend.
