Goldsmith Williams take the Mallorca Tournament challenge for the first time but have plenty of eurofootballfives.com experience elsewhere in Europe. They have a great eurofootballfives.com pedigree winning the 2008 Prague Masters and 2010 Amsterdam Fives plus finishing runners-up in the 2009 Prague Masters and 2009 Barca Fives when they lost to Bulgaria's Lozenetz City and France's Luminy Wolves respectively. In the 2011 Algave Open they were defeated 3-1 in the Cup Semi-Final by two-time Algarve champions Athletico Do Hollande which ended their run of always reaching the Cup Final.

.

Their opponents in the first game of Group C would be Spanish debutants Inextremes. We had no prior knowledge of the Spanish team and this would be our, and Goldsmith Williams, first look at Inextremes. Goldsmith Williams took no time in sussing them out and quickly took a 1-0 lead through regular scorer Liam Currie. His goal was followed up by one from Chris Williams and Goldsmith Williams were two goals to the good at the break.

By full time they were three goals to the good as John Lowry added to the tally and secured a great opening win, 3-0. Goldsmith Williams were on the charge again.

Match 2 saw Spanish debutants Cosegur Balear take on Norton Hill Old Boys. We can't tell you much about Cosegur Balear until we see them in action but Norton Hill Old Boys have played twice before. They played in the 2010 Barcelona Fives and missed out on the knock-out phase. 12 months later, in the 2011 Prague Masters, they picked up their first eurofootballfives victory and qualified for the Plate before suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to Czech team Fridays.

The early running was made by Cosegur Balear when Benjamin Rodriguez Nebreda scored a first half double. After the break things didn't get much better for Norton Hill Old Boys as Jacinto Rodriguez Martinez scored a double to make it 4-0 before Carlos Cruz Gomez made it 5-0. It was a great start for the Spanish, the worst possible start for Norton Hill Old Boys.

Cheesecake FC are arguably the strongest team to have played in our tournaments without victory. The fact they have not won is down to the strength of their opposition. They made their debut in the 2010 Prague Masters in a field which also featured 3 past winners – Lozenetz City (Bul), Kehar Club (Cze) and Olympic Phil Babb (Eng). They met the latter in the Cup Semi-Finals and after a fine 3-3 draw went out on penalties. They then played in the 2011 Algarve Open which also featured 3 past winners – Goldsmith Williams and 9 Nana Budds (both UK) and Dutch side and defending champions Athletico Do Hollande. They met the latter in an epic final in front of a great crowd and sensational effort – unfortunately for them they were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline.

Their 2012 Mallorca Tournament campaign kicked off against Pricers Whiteley All Stars – the second squad from the Whiteley FC club. Whiteley Stags had played well in Group B without much reward so Pricers Whiteley All Stars would hope to fare a little better.

Whiteley Stags started off by drawing 0-0 at half-time before going down to a narrow defeat in the second half. The same fate befell the all Stars. The 2010 Prague Masters top goalscorer, Mark Hignett, got the ball rolling for Cheesecake before Richard Metcalfe made it 2-0 to seal the victory. Handshakes all round and Cheesecake FC were on their way.
