FC Radbroke went into their third fixture as bookies favourites against John Barnes FC. Including the two games this morning, FC Radbroke were on a run of 5 games unbeaten in eurofootballfives competition whereas John Barnes FC had struggled in the early stages of this tournament.

The bookies are not often wrong and they were proved correct again in this game as FC Radbroke proved merciless in racing to a 4-0 lead by half-time. Pete Cox opened the scoring before Mark Watkins bagged his second goal in as many games. Cox then completed his hat-trick before half-time. The second have was a little more sedate but there was still time for Mike Brandon to score a 5 th goal and make the final score 5-0.

The result meant FC Radbroke had an impressive record of 9 points out of 9, scoring 11 goals in 3 games and credit to Marc Lawrie in goal and the defence in front of him with 3 consecutive clean sheets. John Barnes FC had it all to do but there was still time, two more games and 6 points on offer for them to turn their fortunes around.

El Combe Boys must have wondered what they had done to deserve their fixture list. Start off against two previous winners and their reward is a third game against a team that were joint top at the start of the 3rd Round of fixtures. El Combe – we promise you've done nothing wrong, just a very unfortunate and very tough draw…sorry!

It was a good start for El Combe Old Boys though as they put in a very good first half display. Although they couldn't find the net themselves they had prevented their opponents from scoring and could be relatively pleased with a 0-0 scoreline at the break.

Sportsman Bar had started the Round joing top but second on goal difference and that is how they would finish it too. They grabbed the goals they needed (Lee Baines and Jake) in the second half to complete their third successive victory and move back to joint top albeit 5 goals behind FC Radbroke on goal difference.

For El Combe Old Boys it was a spirited display and (FC Radbroke result aside) they had competed well against both Policia Mallorca and Sportsman Bar. If possible, they needed to block these results out and start afresh in their final two fixtures.

The final game of Round 3 saw Whiteley Stags face Policia Mallorca. Whiteley Stags came into the game with confidence on the back of a win whereas Policia Mallorca were looking to bounce back from defeat.

In a close first half Policia Mallorca just had the edge as a Jose Luis Moya goal gave them a precious 1-0 lead. Tomas Cladera made it 2-0 in the second half and the Spanish looked on their way to victory. There was then a controversial moment as Policia Mallorca were on the attack and Steve Holmes, from our angle, looked to make a good tackle but the referee saw it otherwise from behind the play and gave a Spanish free kick. Whilst the free kick was defended well initially in the short passage of play afterwards Toni Riera made it 3-0 and effectively game over. There was time for Whiteley Stags to have the final word in the dying seconds when Jake Alford spotted the keeper off his line and on the break found the back of the net from some distance. Final score, 3-1.

Alex Ferguson is famed for saying that champions can lose but not two in a row and the test of a true champion is how you respond. Policia Mallorca showed here they responded well in the defence of their title. They were still 3 points behind the leading two clubs though.
