Group B began with two teams experienced in eurofootballfives.com action as FC Radbroke took on Whiteley Stags. FC Radbroke were making their fourth eurofootballfives appearance in Mallorca after a fine victory in the 2011 Prague Masters. In Prague they defeated two past champions (Kehar Club and Deportivo) en route to glory. In previous tournaments they were only knocked out by other eurofootballfives.com winners – Bulgaria's Lozenetz City (Prague Masters 2009, Manchester Fives 2010) in the Cup Quarter-Finals of the 2009 Barca Fives and Spain's Futbol City in the Cup Semi-Finals of the 2010 Valencia Fives.

Whiteley Stags were one of two teams from Whiteley FC also making their 4th appearance in European action with eurofootballfives to follow up their debut in the 2008 Amsterdam Fives. In the Dutch capital they reached the Cup Semi-Finals where they narrowly lost an 8-goal thriller, 5-3. In 2010, they played in the 2010 Algarve Open winning Group D before going out in the quarter-finals to Portuguese team Water Boy. Last year they competed in our inaugural Budapest Fives with one team narrowly losing on penalties to eventual winners Al Kaloida (Hungary) in the Plate Quarter-Finals and their other team winning the 4-team Wooden Spoon convincingly in the final 6-1 against Sweden's A Magyar Pekseg.

In Mallorca the two squads looked fairly evenly matched and they played out a close contest with just the one goal in it. That goal was scored by Mike Brandon of FC Radbroke who earned his team all 3 points. An encouraging start for both teams although no reward for the Stags.

Match 2 saw Spanish team and current holders of the Mallorca Tournament title, Policia Mallorca, host El Combe Old Boys. El Combe Old Boys were the second squad from the Vodafone FC stable that won the 2010 Algarve Open Plate. Their sister squad had found Group A difficult and El Combe Old Boys would want to make a positive start but they had a desperately tough opening fixture.

Policia Mallorca seemed to carry on in 2012 from where they left off in 2011 by quickly establishing a 2-0 first half-lead. Goals from Toni Riera and Jaime Garau had put them in a commanding position. If 2-0 was a commanding lead then 3-0 was unassailable as Garau scored his second of the game. Final score, 3-0 to Policia Mallorca – their defence of the title was up and running.

For El Combe Old Boys it was a tough start but they had four more games and would hope they would not all be this difficult.

Next up was Sportsman Bar of Spain versus travelling team John Barnes FC. John Barnes FC were making their 2nd appearance in eurofootballfives competition and it is a welcome return after a 5 year break. They previously played all the way back in tournament #3, the 2007 Prague Trophy. They finished 2nd in their group on that occasion before a Cup Quarter-Final exit. They are in Mallorca for Chris Fennell's stag weekend so there could well be some sore heads from Friday night's drinking activities.

Sportsman Bar had a number of players who competed for the Arenal All Stars in last year's tournament. Arenal All Stars struggled in 2011 and finished 5th in their group although it was mooted before this event that the Sportsman Bar would be stronger this year.

It certainly looked that way as they took a 2-0 lead into half-time. They were helped by an own goal before Lee Baines struck to double the lead. Lee Baines grabbed his second of the game to make it 3-0 and there was no way back for John Barnes FC.
