The first game in Round 4 was a heavyweight contest between FC Radbroke and Sportsman Bar as the two teams at the top, both with 100% records – at least one of those records would be lost here. In the context of the group a draw would probably suit them both to ensure Cup qualification but there was no sign at all the teams were settling for a point – both were going for victory.

It was first blood to the Sportsman Bar as Ruben Drover became the first man to score past Marc Lawrie today. It was a goal that would give them a vital lead going into the break. Chris Barr increased the lead in the second half before Pete Cox became the first man to breach the Sportsman's defence today. When the referee wrapped things up it was 2-1 to the Spanish side and they had guaranteed their place in the Cup and were in pole position to win Group B.

For FC Radbroke it was a first defeat in 7 games but they were still in second place and qualifying for the Cup was still very much in their own hands with one game to go.

One team that would have been happy for a positive result in the above contest rather than a draw would have been Policia Mallorca. The defeat to FC Radbroke meant they had a chance to catch them if they could collect all 3 points against John Barnes FC.

Policia Mallorca started off well and established a 2-0 lead by the break as Daniel Javaloyas and Jose Luis Moya both found the net. There was also a moment of light relief as the sprinklers went off during play – a refreshing blast off cool water on a hot day I'm sure would have been welcome. Although we play on artificial grass the pitches are watered to stop the grass/fibregel pellets becoming too hot and burning when players skin comes into contact with the pitch.

Anyway, back to the game, with 3 points looking good for Policia Mallorca the next step was to look at goal difference. They would surely be going level with FC Radbroke on 9 points when Jaime Castro Gonzalez made it 3-0. They needed a 6-goal win to move into second and Pedro Barcelo helped them on their way to 4-0 but that's where the scoring ended.

Policia Mallorca moved into joint second but were third on goal difference. John Barnes FC were propping up the rest in 6th position.

The final game of Round 4 was Whiteley Stags versus El Combe Old Boys. Both teams had played well so far and if it wasn't for such a strong group would surely have fared better on another day. As it was they only had 3 points between them to show for their considerable efforts thus far. They belonged to Whiteley Stags who, with another win, could secure Plate qualification and 4th place at worst with an outside shout of finishing in 3rd .

El Combe Old Boys had a chance of joining Whiteley Stags in 4th position with a win. A draw would see the status quo remain in terms of league placings. The opening goal of the game went to captain Matt Hall who opened his team's scoring account for the day.

The match proved a very even one and that goal proved to be the only goal of the game and El Combe Old Boys grabbed three points that put them level with Whiteley Stags on points but trailing them in terms of goal difference.
