The
second Quarter-Final saw Deddington Sea Cats
take on GHSFC. It was the fourth placed team
in Group A hosting the fifth placed team in
Group B. If the ‘home' team could claim victory
here we would be facing the proposition of an
all-Deddington Plate Semi-Final. We'd yet to
have a Deddington derby in our tournaments although
got close at the 2017 Krakow Trophy when both
featured in the Plate Semi-Finals but opposite
sides of the draw – only one made it to the
final.
Deddington
Sea Cats had enjoyed an unpredictable morning.
Three defeats (all by 3 goals) but two big wins
(5-2 and 7-1). There had been 26 goals in the
games featuring the Deddington Sea Cats (the
joint highest with Ecuador 100%). We hoped for
goals in this game and we got them.
Sadly
for Deddington Sea Cats it was GHSFC who scored
the early goals. Arjan Chagger was the man of
the moment with two goals in the first half
as GHSFC were half way through to the next round.
Tim
Atherton reduced the deficit to 2-1 after half-time
but GHSFC regained dominance with another two
goals from Arjan Chagger. Camen Bhandal made
it 5-1 and it looked all over. Joe Thornton
and Tom Ward reduced the lead to 5-3 but it
was too little too late for the Sea Cats.
It
was time to say farewell to them but there was
some personal consolation for Joe Thornton as
he finished the top scorer in the tournament
with 12 goals. Well done to Joe!
