With a game each under their belts, the teams had now had a chance to ease themselves into the tournament. Lanky Londoners came into Round 2 on the back of a Round 1 draw. Deddington Sea Rats came into the game on the back of a defeat.

Lanky Londoners made their debut at the 2017 Barcelona Fives as Good Latitude. They were drawn in a tough group but performed well as they claimed 4 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats and recorded a positive goal difference of +3. They finished 4th out of 8 teams which saw them qualify for the Plate. They drew 1-1 in the Quarter-Finals with Welsh team FourInTina before going out 7-6 in an epic penalty shoot-out.

At the 2018 Lisbon Tournament they were drawn in the group that produced the eventual winners and runners-up. In such a tough group they finished fourth out of six teams. The Plate beckoned but they were unlucky as met the 2017 Cup Winners Pangare Futebol Clube of Brazil. They put in a brave effort but went out 4-2.

They would hope the draw would be kinder here in Mallorca and they would go to the top of the early table with a win here. There was a goal in each half from Marcus Pitts first half and then Jack Stratt second half. Deddingto Sea Rats had their chances but they lacked sharpness in front of goal and could not take their opportunities. Lanky Londoners could and took the three points.

For Game 5 of Group C we had Urbansport versus Policia Local.

Policia Local had a very proud qualifying record from the group phase of our tournaments. Their group performance had seen them qualify for the Cup on 6 out of their 7 tournaments before today. Only in May 2013 had they failed and gone into our 2nd tier Plate competition. They had started off with a 2-1 win today which was a good base to qualify for the Cup yet again.

Urbansport's record had been more varied with 2 Cup qualifications, 1 Plate qualification and 1 elimination before the knock-out phase. The latter looked highly unlikely as they had started with a 3-0 win in Round 1. Here in Round 2 they were involved in a very tight game especially in the first half. The two teams changed ends with the scores still level at 0-0.

In the second half it was Urbansport who broke the deadlock. Juanito Garcia opened the scoring before Kevin Martii settled matters in a 2-0 victory.

The game that would complete Round 2 was Red Cow Belgrade against The Midlanders. Red Cow Belgrade were looking to bounce back from opening game defeat. Red Cow Belgrade's record over the years read:

2013 Budapest Fives: 4th in Group. Plate Quarter-Final.

2014 Algarve Open: 6th in Group. Eliminated.

2014 Barcelona Fives: 2nd in Group. Plate Runners-Up

2015 Lisbon Tournament: 6th in Group. Trophy Runners-Up.

2016 Riga Tournament: 4th in Group. Plate Runners-Up

2017 Vilnius Tournament: 4th in Group. Plate Quarter-Final.

2018 Gdansk Tournament:3rd in Group. Plate Semi-Final.

The Midlanders were finding their way in our tournaments. The Midlanders began with a solid point and were now looking for their first European win.

It was Red Cow Belgrade who got off to a flyer though. Joe Howitt, ever present in all 8 tours, was on the scoresheet with a brace. A Matt Homer goal before the break pulled it back to 2-1.

In the second half The Midlanders completed their comeback as Marc Perry scored the equalizing goal. It was a second draw of the day for The Midlanders and a first point on the board for Red Cow Belgrade.
