Next
up was The Midlanders versus Lanky Londoners.
The
Midlanders had intended to compete in last year's
tournament but were unable to travel so it was
great to see them in action 12 months on. Lanky
Londoners were making their third eurofootballfives.com
appearance after trips to Barcelona and Lisbon
in the previous two seasons. On both occasions
they had secured 4th placed finishes in their
group.
When
the action got going it was defences on top
in an evenly contested first half. The two teams
reached the break level at 0-0. We were to get
goals in the second period though. Matthew Homer
had the honour of scoring his side's first goal
in Europe as The Midlanders took the lead. Sam
Twyman levelled things up for Lanky Londoners
and earned his team a 1-1 draw.
