Group B was different to Groups A and C in the sense that we had an extra team. Rather than two halves of football each game would be played as one period. Game time would be slightly shorter but each team would get an extra game.

We began with Deddington Sea Men versus GHSFC. Deddington arrived in Mallorca for their third eurofootballfives.com tour. At the 2017 Krakow Trophy they played as the Sea Eagles and Sea Otters. The Eagles squad won 2, drew 2 and lost 1 on their way to 3rd place in Group A. The Otters won 3, drew 1 and lost 1 on their way to 3 rd place in Group B. Both teams would qualify for the Plate Semi-Finals.

The Sea Eagles won their Semi-Final 4-1 over Belgium's Trinacria. The Sea Otters were hoping to set-up an all-Deddington final but Fylde FC A had other ideas with a 7-1 victory. The Sea Eagles fared better against Fylde as they played out a 2-2 draw in the Plate Final. Penalties would decide the Plate and it was Deddington Sea Eagles who were victorious to pick-up silverware on debut.

At the 2018 Riga Tournament there was success for Deddington. Playing as the Sea Badgers and Sea Squirrels the Sea Badgers finished second in Group C with the Sea Squirrels in third in Group D. The Sea Squirrels went out in the Plate Quarter-Finals. The Sea Badgers went all the way to the Cup Final having drawn their QF and SF both 1-1 but winning on penalties. The Cup Final saw an epic performance against Riga United who had beaten them 9-3 in the group. A 3-3 draw in the final preceded another penalty shoot-out win.

Two goals from Luc Thornton was enough to set Deddington on their way here in Mallorca. A 2-0 winning start.

Match 2 in Group B saw Hellgarve Kraken's (Por) versus Neptune Rams (Eng). It was only 3 weeks ago on the 27 th April that they travelled from the Algarve to our Lisbon Tournament. They performed well and finished joint second in the table on 11 points from 6 games. It was a really tough group that featured the two eventual Cup Finalists. They were level with 2017 champions Pangare Futebol Clube (Bra) but were third on goal difference and missed out on the Cup. They were brilliant in the Plate competition with 6-1, 2-0 and 3-1 victories taking them to victory.

Neptune Rams were on debut so we would not know what to expect from them at this stage but they gave an excellent account of themselves. The game proved to be a really close game. Ultimately there was only one goal to separate the two teams. Cometh the hour, cometh the man and that man was Tiago Nogueira. His goal was the winner and combined with a clean sheet from Joao Dias all three points went to Portugal.

The next two teams to get underway in Round 1 were AFC Basemen and Inter Balear.

AFC Basemen were making their second eurofootballfives.com appearance after debut at the 2018 Lisbon Tournament. They made a good impression in Portugal with 3-1 wins over ASCPM (Mor) and FC United of Bob (Eng). A 2-2 draw versus FC Broxelona A (Eng) continued their unbeaten run before defeat to a very good Danish Dynamites (Den) team. They finished second in Group B to qualify for the Cup. They lost at the Quarter-Final stage to Wessex FC.

After the early exchanges it looked like we had two well matched teams in an even contest. Defences were on top and there was a clean sheet for each of Tomas Cladera (Inter Balear) and Robbie Heywood (AFC Basemen).

It was a solid start for both teams with the points shared. Final score, 0-0.
