As we entered the final Round of games CIS Committee were in the enviable position of already securing Cup football and already winning Group D. They had the luxury of a free game as they took on Tommie's Guns although did still have a 100% record to maintain.

Tommie's Guns were currently in fifth position but could still finish in 3 rd and so a place in the Plate was still up for grabs – a competition they won at the Algarve Open 2012. Could Tommie's Guns benefit from CIS Committee taking their foot off the pedal? Alternatively, would it mean CIS Committee play with greater freedom and expression with the pressure off?

CIS Committee showed no signs of letting their standards slip and they powered into a 2-0 lead at half-time. Vitali Ledenev scored yet again for the Belarusians with able assistance from Ihar Shcherbich. Vitali Ledenev finished off the game to make it 3-0 and CIS Committee were emerging as the team to beat in this tournament.

For Tommie's Guns, they knew they would be playing in the Trophy competition this afternoon.

Fireball met The Spider Mans and Eagle FC in the penultimate game of Group D. Fireball had drawn three and lost just once by one goal to CIS Committee (the best performance of any team against CIS) so looked to be a team punching below their weight in the league standings. The best they could hope for was a third placed finish and place in the Plate competition – they needed a win to guarantee this though.

The Spider Mans and Eagle FC only needed a draw to finish in second position and they could even afford to lose this one if Saga Louts failed to win their last game. They would surely not want to leave it to chance though and put in an emphatic performance.

Richard Eggleston scored a first half double to put the English team in charge at half-time. The game was effectively sealed by Ryan Stevens when he made it 3-0 and The Spider Mans and Eagle FC finished with an impressive haul of 10 points and were now on a run of four games unbeaten. Congratulations to them for qualifying for the Cup.

Fireball paid the price for too many draws early on and would need the final result to go their way to even qualify for the Plate.

That left us with Saga Louts versus Murder on Zidanes Floor to wrap up Group D. What was left to play for in Group D?

Saga Louts: Needed to avoid defeat to finish in third position. A defeat would see them finish fourth but either way they would qualify for the Plate.

Murder on Zidanes Floor: A win would see them jump above their opponents into third position and qualify for the Plate. A draw would see them qualify for the Plate in the fourth but defeat would leave them in fifth position and qualify for the Trophy.

Fireball: Although not playing, they wanted a Saga Louts win to help them into the Plate at the expense of Murder on Zidanes Floor.

The first goal of the game would have left both Saga Louts and Fireball disappointed as it went to Tom Richardson of Murder on Zidanes Floor. It was to be the only goal of the game and it was to earn Murder on Zidanes Floor their first win of the day and also to earn them third place.

Saga Louts slipped to fourth position but the big losers of this result were Fireball who would be relegated into fifth position and the Trophy competition.
